Although put on the spot a bit by mischeivous Malcolm Boyden on would he or wouldn't he take the Director of Football post if offered he obviously sees himself as someone to turn the club around. How would he do that ? If ever there is a football dinosaur it's our Bobby, who IMO is of a different football generation and would be unable to manage or cope with this rich, young generation of footballers, and i wonder if thats the problem with AT and some of our senior players, but back to Gouldy. Coming up 66 just what does a Director of Football do for a club, will he too go in the dressing room and sit in the dug-out ? if he did what would the difference be between him and the orange one ? and would he too have a tracksuit top with the initials BG on.

It is a fact that the two times he was manager here and fired certain senior players celebrated the fact and although revered for signing good players such as Stuart Pearce, Trevor Peake, Brian Kilcline, Mickey Gynn and Dave Bennett he also signed the useless Graham Withey, Dave Bamber, Steve Morgan, Leigh Jenkinson, probably the worst signing for the money i can remember, then there was Ashley Grimmes, played okay at Man. United, useless here, moved to Luton to become a main player there for a few seasons.
And who will forget his selection of number one son Jonathon over perhaps our best ever keeper big Oggy, nepitism at it's worst. So Bobby Gould diector of football, DO ME A FAVOUR.

stuart pearce - best england left back ever
peake/killer/gynn/regis/oggy/bennett the backbone of our best ever team

even the likes of platnaeur and bamber - division 4 players one day, beating the champions of europe the next

what about ndlovu and Mickey quinn

Name me a manager who has never made a bad signing - sorry there isnt one
When gould first took over the club were in a mess - no players - he had to sign a new squad for next to nothing
his first match Watford away (who had just finished 2nd) - when Radio 2 (as it was then ) read our team out - they laughed
By christmas we were 4th and even though we then struggled (although we were actually still 5th in march) , this was the beginning of our cup winning team

Yes i liked Mickey Quinn but he was a known quantity and Peter Ndlovu was signed by John Sillett, who incidently was sacked by Gould !!

ok - will give you ndlovu, but as for sumo - known quantity is pushing it a bit - Gouldy took him from 2nd division, and for the Sam marino game, he was being touted for an England place - so Gould bought him, built the team around him, and all was going well until rosario was sold from under him to forest

But it wasn't a scoop signing was it ? I am saying some are putting Bobby Gould up a some sort of messiah to come galloping in, in our hour of need, don't think the Welsh would see him that way. Gouldy has had his day and what would he do in the director of football role, pat Andy Thorns back, give him a cuddle. Director of Football to me is a bullshit role to give someone a boost to their bank balance before retirement. Any in cumbent manager in would fuck them off to be honest. The first team manager has to be the boss man over everybody below chairman and even him on occasions

if it was me, Id make him manager till the end of the season . we are probably down anyway . In his 2 spells here , for the 1st 6 months he really was the messiah - lets see if he can repeat it . We really have nothing to lose, even if it means more ballet lessons
