Boro fans (1 Viewer)

I lot of these established so called bigger fish are stale/stagnant entities unlike us who've fallen to rise with dynamism and that impetus driving us onward
The owner did say it way back amongst all the aggro, *I want to make Coventry City a new club".
Hard stuff to swallow but it has been done up to now.IMO
And the owner took us the other way as well. Interesting point but flawed as our owners put us fans through shit for a decade. Remember Good times ahead Despite what our owners did to us.

That said, Steve Gibson really deserves a better return for his 25 years of bankrolling them.
I think Steve Gibson would have seen more of a return on his considerable investment, had he not shown Bryan Robson the loyalty that he did.
Boro were spending huge money back then ‘at least on a level with other big clubs but it soon became obvious that although Robson was the man to bring the players in, he couldn’t manage them once he had.
I believe Gibson and Robson were big mates before his appointment……should never let friendships get in the way of business.

Yeah agree am aware of that and it was a painful gamble that could have gone the other way but were becoming one of those stale/strangled teams carrying lots of baggage and expectation.
I'm sure there are other ways to generate that impetus and don't know entirely where it goes potentially from here as the debt in the structure remains as a block to other progression .
I was one of those expectant entitled fans and I'm not saying anything is wrong in that but this has been another different way that was hard to go through.

Long may it continue with us being underestimated and clubs with far larger expenditures wasting the cash. Another cup of Paunovic’ tears please

The issue is the separation, it is too segregated. For years fans were just allowed to mingle outside and there were no issues. It's what happens at just about every other ground in the country, fans mix on exit.

One flash point at the Ricoh and up went the barriers. If you are going to herd people behind steel fences it gives people the opportunity to goad each other. A real regressive step putting up those barriers imo.
Reminds me of this 😂

Then the stewards and police act shocked every time it kicks off when both sets of fans reach the end of the barriers. Also means people who have parked there due to mobility issues are forced to take a much longer route back to their cars.

How many years have we been having issues in car park B? Surely can't be that hard to work out a way to not push supporters of both sides into the same area?

If two sets of idiots want to kick off with each other then don't do it in the car park where kids and families are trying to make their way home.
The problem is the stadium being arse about face. The away fans should be at the other end, where hardly any home fans head home from, and they can get on their coaches and head straight out from there. The problem is we built the entrance to the casino and shop etc. there meaning you'd have chaos before the game.

Casino entrance should be at the south stand then away and players entrance in the north stand. Would separate fans much better after the game and has the added bonus that it's the away not home fans that have to have sun in their eyes.

If only I had a quid everytime I heard a Cov fan say, "We should be beating teams like..."

Not sure why, they're in a similar bracket to Sunderland but with even less pedigree.

That said, Steve Gibson really deserves a better return for his 25 years of bankrolling them.

I was good mates with a boro fan when I lived in Sheffield.
When I couldn’t get to a City game I went to some Boro games with him.
I found their fans quite grounded and used to tough times, and being let down, a bit like us. They were on the whole a good laugh and had a humour in their support, like we have, they knew they werent the biggest or best but they loved their club…..and they hate Sunderland as well.

I know a fella I worked on a project with who was a Boro fan, I was working with him during our play off games when Boro lost to Villa. He was very similar to your mate tbf.

It's the same the country over. I often wondered if you put a few hundred fans from 2 clubs who supposedly hate each other (say Blues and Villa) and they weren't allowed to say which team they supported, but knew half were the opposition, what would happen. I understand the tribalism, but the behaviour of people at times is embarrassing at times.
