This is not true.

He was always a winger, and was converted to wing back.

He played as a wing back and a winger for Shrewsbury.

And of course he hadn't played a game in his preferred position at this level before BC - he hadn't played any games at all at this level!

Both statements are true. The first is very specific but is nonetheless true.

Yes it's true in the same way that Kastaneer has never played a game in the Premier League in his preferred position is true!

Giles hadn't played in any position at this level before the Bristol City game, so whilst true it's a bit of an irrelevant point.

Reason For Coventry vs AFC Bournemouth Predictions
  • Bournemouth’s first two games of the season saw seven goals scored
  • Each of Bournemouth’s last five away trips have seen both teams score
  • Bournemouth face 15 shots per game on average this season
  • Coventry have scored in their last nine home league games
Coventry onto Cherries’ level
A couple of months ago, Bournemouth were battling Premier League relegation while Coventry had their season cut-short. Now they’re competing at the same level, with the Sky Blues set to give Bournemouth a serious test when they clash in Friday’s Championship clash.
The hosts aren’t being held back by their lack of a home stadium, as they continue their tenancy at Birmingham’s St Andrew’s. Their first game here saw them edge out QPR in an entertaining 3-2 win. Will they produce another thriller against the Cherries?
Pair to open up at St Andrew’s
Coventry were held to a 0-0 draw by Barnsley in their last outing, but we expect them to set the agenda in this clash. Their approach in encounters with Bristol City and QPR have shown the Sky Blues to be an adventurous side, while they were able to bounce back after falling behind in both clashes. The fact that the Barnsley clash had such few openings didn’t suit them, so we expect a more open clash at St Andrew’s.
The same goes for Bournemouth, who edged a tight encounter with Norwich last weekend, winning 1-0. However, that was a blip in terms of the Cherries’ entertaining start, with seven goals scored in their opening two matches since relegation. The Cherries also lost 2-1 at Man City in the EFL Cup, their fifth away game on the spin to see both teams score.
Friday night chances
So far this season, Coventry’s matches have averaged 22 shots per game, with the hosts hitting 12 of those. They face a Bournemouth side who still have issues at the back, having faced 15 shots per game on average so far. However, the visitors have proven to be a threat from open play, counter attacks and set pieces so far this term, so we expect them to threaten the Sky Blues.
The hosts have scored in their last nine league games at this ground and we see them finding the net once again here. With Bournemouth looking too open so far and Coventry seeing both teams score in three of their last four games, we’re going with BTTS as our first pick here. Meanwhile, the hosts have drawn two of their last three games in all competitions so our correct score prediction is a 1-1 draw.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but can see a 0-2 defeat tonight - think MR will name an unchanged side from Barnsley as he seemed quite happy with the point last game and all players had nearly a week from last match so should all be fit hopefully.

From the extended pre match MR interview - Kelly is fit and in MRs words 'back in the fold and looks like he's not been out,' Mason has a medial ligament issue in his knee that will keep him our for 6-8 weeks, MR doesn't expect any more ins or outs before the deadline.

Big test for the young side tonight and I’m not sure if this weather is a ‘leveller’ with the way we play or not !

i think we have to manage our expectations and accept there are different levels within championship and there will be certain teams that are Just too good for us (Important though to make sure we pick up points in our ‘mini league’ games against those around us). I think Bournemouth will be a little bit too good for us but hopefully wrong.

my take is “no pressure boys, enjoy the game, go out and express yourselves and give it everything, but no shame if we compete but ultimately loose this one by a couple of goals and learn from it”

Shit luck for Mason, probably dented his chances of a move (temporary or permanent), at least for this window. Think he needs to move on for the good of his career. Shame as he’s a good player, but clearly doesn’t fit our style anymore

Just remember we lost to Rotherham 4-0 at the start of October last year.
If I remember correctly, our keeper had a nightmare and gifted them the first 2 goals, then we conceded a 3rd from the spot after Faz had got sent off, and the fourth was another defensive cock up after we got caught in possession.
All in all a day to forget.

If Kelly is fit he starts tonight

We have to be much more mobile up front than we were against Barnsley if we are to have any chance of scoring. They don’t press like the former and they play a decent brand of football which should give our players some more space to Dabo things for example.

I think we'll lose and it'll be comfortable for them, maybe 3-0, not too worry as playing tonight gives us an additional 20 hours or so recovery going into the next.

It's pretty frightening when you look at their squad and all the established internationals they have... Begovic, King, Lerma, Brooks etc along with the hundreds and hundreds of Premier League appearances between them

Yeah but they weren’t good enough to stay there and we won our league. Swings and roundabouts. FWIW I think they will win, but I don’t think we need to be afraid of them — I suspect they are pretty wary of us too. Bit of a ‘no win’ game for them, they ‘should’ beat us easily so will get grief off their fans if they lose. We don’t have those expectations.

Think we will rise to the challenge and win 1-0, And keep up our 100% home record.

I fancy a win tonight. They are in a period of transition and despite a talented squad they have lost ten players and not replaced them

Wonder if we’ll wear the new 3rd kit tonight with emails been sent out and with the game being on Sky?
