The stadium's not looking good atm though. Will it stay up long enough to see a resolution?

My father took me to watch stock-car racing and occasionally speedway racing (anyone remember Nigel Boocock?) there years ago.
God knows how we got there since my parents never owned a car. Went on the bus I guess.
What struck me most was the horrible noise and how very dangerous it all looked.

I certainly remember Nigel Boocock! In the days before he started wearing blue leathers, his equipment was not top class; Ken McKinlay was looking at his bike, shook his head and said "If he can score the points he does on that thing, imagine what he could do on a bike!"

I really hope they come back as I always said I would go to watch them with my good friend Frank Smith the ex bees rider but didn’t get round to it

Only ever went once - around 1975/76. Dad's family treat (none of us had ever been before) They raced against Hackney Hawks. I think the bees won. Never been back since and not a fan of any motor sport but there can be no question that they are a genuine sporting institution - Hope they can be resurrected somehow.

for me it was Ole Olsen
I never went to speedway more than about a dozen times but remember about this time we had a rider called Ian Hindle and he nearly always finished last.
