so are you saying it’s Thomas-Asante or not?
Yes, I stated a while back when It was I had found out, and that it's been an ongoing thing. Talks are being had. I said I hope it gets done, and that I believe he would be a great upgrade on an ageing Godden. I believe other people are hearing of it, there's another poster on here, Fernando, he's reliable, I see he has heard the same. Let's see if it gets done. There's outgoings now, wages have been freed up, could be time to move on it.

Interesting. Personally I just don’t see how it makes sense. But we’ll see I guess.

And forgive my pessimism , but we have so many know alot know fuck all fans that just like to either cause a stir or gain attention for their social media handles

The success rate so far this pre season is at an all time low

No I like Fernando and can't imagine he'd be a Billy bullshitter I'm more on about the many many twats besides him .

I know he's said were talking with them , but on this one I cannot see us signing him , seems a stretch

I'm not here to cause a stir, and I barely use social media. I've never come on here and posted anything I have known about. I originally posted in the Windass thread, as I wanted people to understand that we were aiming for better than that. We'll see if it gets done.

Yes, I only recently created this account, however I've long been a reader of here. Like I said, I don't usually get involved as I see how people respond to others if they share any information.
I said we have been in talks with the player for a long time. The two clubs have to come to an agreement also.
What happens is someone will post on Twitter they've heard a player is having a medical, another person will take that rumour and run with it, adding 2 and 2 together, getting 5.
I said Godden's exit should materialise this week, then we should see if there's any movement.
We as a club were very heavy with the Hamer posts on social media in pre season, he still left. I can't fathom why a player returning to his place of work means he cannot move on during the transfer window.
I think a lot of people are impatient, so they then get frustrated when something doesn't progress immediately.
I never once stated it would be imminent. Hopefully now we are seeing some outgoings, things can move forward.
I appreciate the input, you seem a genuine guy so hopefully this materialises. Be a good signing if so.

Be interesting times if we did.

Cannon was unlucky last season with injuries, they brought him in to help them get out of that league but didn’t really get much of a look in so would very much be risking the unknown.
I think they will go for safe bets up front for them so a loan out could be on the cards and realistically with games thick and fast we will need to rotate to keep fresh.
Realistic?… probably not. Wishful yes definitely

£7.5m transfer fee, £45k p/w, 3 starts all season.
Knew he had a stress fracture in his back, signed him anyway... And people wonder how they got in a mess financially.

I hope it does. I think people just forget the many factors. It can't be buying all the time, we have a structure to follow and can't be irresponsible. A few off the wage bill and things start to move again. Plus the selling club have to be onboard.
If we don't land some of our targets, it doesn't mean talks haven't happened, or another team can come along and snap them up from under us. But it does show our intent and everyone should start getting used to the fact we are not chasing the likes of Windass.
I think it is smart business, adds good depth for the busy periods and I hope we get it done.

West brom are willing to let their top scorer go , for a couple million to a championship promotion rival ?

Seems a stretch
On paper it does look that way. I have a good friend who worked for Albion for many years and when I messaged asking what he thought, if he had any inside info, he said 'Been gone too long for that. He was our weakest link last year. Not his fault really, but he misses a lot of chances. He works hard, capabale of scoring great goals but misses too many chances. I don't want us to sell him, but I don't want us to start him either' - so from a Baggies POV, I don't think it's like we're stealing their best player.

It appears to me that in football , not many fans like many of their players at any club 😂

Well, as soon as others are Interested in them that is

Exactly what my WBA supporting mate said. A decent impact sub but not good enough as a regular starter.

If we went off this forum , and west brom fans were interested in callum o hare .. they'd get the impression he wasn't good enough either
The WBA manager left him on the bench several times when they had no other fit forwards, that probably tells you something.

I think that’s what he should be for us, a great sub but not a regular starter. I can’t see him being better than Simms, particularly as Simms is still young and should improve every season, whereas Asante is at a stage where if he improves it won’t be drastic.

Great impact sub though and that’s what we need more of, when we’re winning 1-0 and can’t find that extra goal at 70 mins these are the sort of players that can get us over the line in games where it really matters, rather than bringing on Godden or Tavares who just aren’t at the same level.

I suspect that we are all assuming its this guy when in fact we will be way off. The club likes to keep us all guessing, but that's part of the mystery and fun

Isn't that what we want?
At this stage in the club’s development, don’t we need a player who is going to compete with our 2 main strikers and try and get a competitive squad? It’s a long season with plenty of games, suspensions and injuries. The third striker will get plenty of game time and we should feel comfortable having them as a starter if needed. If it’s just an impact sub we’re after, we might as well stick with Tavares.

I’m not saying there is no difference. I don’t know anything about BTA other than what I’m reading on this forum, which is he’s not great, but might be a useful impact sub. I’m just saying that if we want to be competing top end of the table, shouldn’t we want better than that, and provide good competition for what we already have.

It wasn't too long ago when fans were urging MR to give Tavares a run in the side! How things have moved on.....

Asante-Thomas would provide competition

He literally scored 11 goals in the championship last year

3/4 less than simms and wright

Nice that we've written off another player in the 'glint in the milksman's eye' stage of the transfer/rumour. Gotta get that negativity in nice and early.
Exactly, a bit like when Swansea fans laughed at us spending £1 million on Gyokeres
