Response to recent statements published by Arena Coventry Limited

The 2013/14 season started on Saturday and it’s absolutely vital that we concentrate on the running of the club and our future plans.

But it seems not enough that ACL and the council cost us ten points last season, have hamstrung us all summer in the transfer market and last Friday rejected the CVA to send us towards liquidation and a ten point penalty for this season; it now appears they want to create further distractions with inaccurate statements regarding recent and past events.

We can answer every single point put forward and have nothing to hide. In fact, we welcome any investigation that examines this whole affair – including the property and financial deals relating to the move from Highfield Road, which is where this all began.

We are also happy for an investigation into why previous owners of the club set up the Limited/Holdings structure in 1995 and any transfer of assets since then.

That said, we are sure our supporters would rather see everyone concentrating on football and how we return the club to the area as quickly as possible.

Since the spring, ACL have refused to negotiate with the club and we were forced to agree a ground share to fulfil our fixtures and are developing plans to build our own stadium in the Coventry area.

That is where our full focus now lies because despite recent claims that they still want to negotiate, their actions such as rejecting the CVA and the statement they issued on Saturday are contrary to that.

When Joy Seppala met with representatives of ACL on July 25, she certainly did not demand full ownership without negotiation. She made the point that every football club needs access to matchday revenues and should own its stadium - especially under the Financial Fair Play rules.

The meeting began with Chris West making an offer of £400,000 rent with no access to the key revenues – the same offer that was on the table when ACL broke off negotiations with the club in February.

That offer was put forward despite a previous meeting at the Council House on June 3, with Council Deputy Leader Phil Townshend, Martin Reeves and Chris West at which Councillor Townshend said he was ready to discuss the sale of the freehold to the club. Mr West then acknowledged that a deal of this kind might now be possible, but said that he did not have the authority to negotiate such a transaction.

Personally think it's high time Coventry City Council & ACL were asked "a few searching questions"!

Something ain't right somewhere. Still convinced that ACL are hampering the club despite their "we care for the fans" line.

A bit petty Fisher...but that's all we get these days.

The bottom line is you shouldn't have moved the club out of Coventry.

First time I read this I thought it was written by someone taking the piss it sounds so childish but it is actually on the club website.

like a pair of squabbling kids.

i have no dissolution that ACL did too little too late, but i also believe that they are the lesser of 2 evils and step 1 must be to get SISU out.

Agree the lesser of two evils by a long chalk, but certainly no innocents in all of this.

Someone's telling porkies.

ACL are saying there are witnesses to what Joy Seppala said. Now the club are denying it.

Surely someone can corroborate the story.

Seems more tit for for tat and bitchy of late between the two sides. Doesn't bode well does it.

Agree that it also sounds childish. Comes across as a 'he took my ball' tantrum.

Both the last two statements from the two sides have been a tad amateurish.

Yeah SISU = evil doesn;t mean all questions to the other side have to stop...

No, it doesn't Otis. With every statement - regardless of whether the Club or ACL - the bitterness gets worse. I do actually think we'll be stuck at Sixfields now. SISU and ACL have no interest in us, they'll just continue their war of words and "nothing to do with us, it was them" tagline. Pathetic the lot of them.

'That said, we are sure our supporters would rather see everyone concentrating on football and how we return the club to the area as quickly as possible.'

Don't think you have any supporters left and we haven't concentrated on football for years now seen as every year is a joke transfer embargos, selling players not replacing them alienating the fans.

totally sick of this club this is just another statement that the owners and directors of our club can stick up their arse.

I think we established last week that they have phones in teh States.

Anne lucas wants talks with Seppala, and Seppala fucks off to USA.
when is she coming back?

We'd probably still be under an embargo now even if we didn't go into admin because SISU are incapable of filing accounts, so fuck off fisher

Chief Commentator!
I'm getting sick of these statements that keep getting released in response to the other one!

And why do the club (SISU / OTIUM whoever) think they have no part to play in this fiasco?

Just wish they'd grow up and if they can't, then change the people doing the negotiations!

Let the solicitors do the talking maybe?

I'm sure they are hampering 'The club' as well. But the club is owned by a bunch of untrustworthy mysterious bastards who lie at every turn ! They have contracts to honour and adhere to which were signed and paid for and difficult to break I imagine. It's all bollocks but the answer is certainly not handing everything over to a hedge fund either !

have hamstrung us all summer in the transfer market

Steven Presley said himself that he wants 6 players but he will be getting 2 Max...... These 2 will have to be Rooney and Messi if thats all Sisu think we need to get out of the relegation battle we are in already ........

"We would also welcome an investigation into why Terry Bly was really sold and the fire in the Main Stand in 1968 - in fact, anything that will take the spotlight off what we have been upto in the last couple of years"

AS much as i detest SISU, i would love an investigation into Richardson and the other shady cunts involved in the selling of Highfield Rd.

Just shut the fuck up!

Everytime you release a statement its just pissing people off even more.

And they keep saying "Coventry area" its really starting to annoy me.

The truth is you are moving us out of Coventry for 5 years never to return to the City. So no one cares for your bullshit!

Well, if they don't negotiate and give SISU some of the Arena (Which and others advocate) then we will never return to Coventry, will we?

Completely agree. I am sick to death of statement after statement being made while Rome burns.

Looks that way. Both sides blame the other for all the issues. It's like the Berlin Wall and will take a huge effort to get through the divide.

For christ sakes. Clean things up instead of pasting the whole website.

This whole thing is a bloody circle jerk of 'they said, we said'. What a joke
