Yeah but we’ve had enough of experts.
Same thing isn’t it.Common sense too by the looks of it.
Same thing isn’t it.
Look at how it is being spun. I know you have some strange alliance with the media and places like the Telegraph but they have been scaring people to try and whip something up that isn't there.
Surely that's obvious? It was a few garages who couldn't get fuel delivered so had to close the forecourt. That's miles away from all the shite since with people thinking the world is going to end and queuing up for hours to get fuel.
It seems the only people who can't see this are the ones who want to cry over Brexit for everything and anything.
Switch the TV on and see how the mass hysteria is being whipped up.
There was nothing wrong with the original report. It was factually accurate and had quotes from BP explaining exactly what was happening and what the cause was.So the initial problems with fuel supply (BP garages having to close etc) which happened before the panic buying took off - that wasn’t a valid news story in your eyes? The media should have ignored it?
I said earlier on that clearly the media coverage helps to spread the panic buying, but that’s because of self-centred arseholes panicking in response to their reporting, not because the media is deliberately stirring it up. If you want someone to blame, blame the jerry can mob, or the authorities who allowed this to snowball - even if it was some media conspiracy (ratings and clicks, right?) it can’t come out of thin air.
Anyway, you didn’t answer my question - would you rather the media just ignored stories like this, just in case they escalate into something bigger?

You can't stop the media report things because of how people react. If you go down that route who decides what can and can't be reported?

The media are deliberately stirring it up. Everywhere you look it's now just showing long queues, quick get the reporters down to show pictures of people. Let's interview Sharon who has been waiting 18 hours to get fuel she didn't even need.
Is it really big news that a handful of BP garages had to close? Enough to try and whip up mass hysteria? I doubt it is.
Bloke on R4 was good this morning. Asked what should be done and he basically said “media need to calm down and stop trying to whip up panic.”
Who in the media is deliberately whipping it up, and to what end?
If you’d rather the media just stayed quiet and didn’t risk causing problems then you can just come out and say it - plenty of Russians and Chinese people would agree with you.

Less than 10 had to close out of 1,200 wasn’t it? Is that newsworthy at all? Also the headline is the headline no one reads the detail
yeah, I think it was 100 out of 1200 so not a major issue. It was then leaked/briefed to the media. Whether they wanted to force prices up or just get government to address driver shortage (which needed to happen to be fair), or a bit of both. It’s worked on both fronts but there’s collateral damage
And the government are happy for it to carry on being a frenzy. If they weren’t it would have been pulled from the airwaves.Look at how it is being spun. DVLA sitting on 40,000 hgv applications .
We've also had a situation at work where people haven't been able to drive because DVLA haven't managed to renew their licenses .
Get back to fucking work Jesus wept
I have just given examples.
Is it big national news that a handful of petrol stations have run out of fuel? Enough to try and get the mass hysteria going? It's hardly censorship is it. It is pretty obvious to anybody with eyes how the media are trying to whip things up.
"Petrol Station Chaos"
"Tesco, Morrisons, BP, Shell, Texaco, Esso issue statements over fuel crisis"
"Fuel supply crisis live: Up to 90% of some brands 'running dry"
It's amazing how fucking thick people get when they can cry about Brexit.
Less than 10 had to close out of 1,200 wasn’t it? Is that newsworthy at all? Also the headline is the headline no one reads the detail
Or the need to insulate homes.Depends if it allows you to cry over brexit I guess.
Those headlines are all accurate. What should they have read instead? “Nothing to see here”?
Still haven’t explained why the entire national media has united across party lines to spark a fuel panic - I guess they just really, really wanted those clicks.
It’s clearly newsworthy - does it happen often? If you’re right, presumably the public would have yawned and moved on. Did they?
Not sure why the media should take the blame for printing articles which no-one apparently even read.
Or the need to insulate homes.
Stop crying about it then. The only one frothing at the mouth over that is you.Plenty of companies about to insulate your home if it needs doing.
It's not something to cry about.

Have you never been to a petrol station before now and it has had no fuel?
They aren't accurate though are they? There is no fuel crisis? There is enough fuel to go around.
Are you really this thick? As I said, you mention a sniff of Brexit and people lose any logic they might have had in the first place.
You started a thread on it. Like I said there’s a material and labour shortage in the construction industry so that might not be as simple as you think.I haven't cried over it? If I want my home insulating I will get it done.
Why don't these "insulate britain" people actulaly target the issue? Go and blockade all of the new build sites from Redrow, Taylor Wimpy, Barratts......stop them building over-priced poor quality shite designed housing.....
Its obscence that these new builds are still being thrown up with no mandatory solar/heat-pump/grey water systems installed.......

New homes are built to a high spec when it comes to insulation. They’re not the problem, it’s existing older homes that are the issue. Why don't these "insulate britain" people actulaly target the issue? The situation is clearly chaotic - reasonable people can disagree on whether it’s a crisis (I think it’s fair enough to call it that), but if you feel strongly then I’m sure you can fire up the Points of View complaints again. If you’re content with the way things are being handled and happier not learning about any problems in the works then that’s great - I’m sure the government will be very happy to hear that. Everything is fine.
I haven’t mentioned Brexit at all btw.
A) I’m intelligent enough to know that new homes aren’t the issue.Because they are thick as fuck and have people like Tony fawning over them because they think they can whinge about Brexit some more.

Yes, it is chaotic now because of how it is being whipped up. Do you still struggle to understand that?
There is no risk of there being no fuel, there is plenty of petrol and diesel but while people are rushing out to fill any container they can then garages will run out until they can get another delivery. It's common sense.
A) I’m intelligent enough to know that new homes aren’t the issue.
B) Laughing at you frothing from the mouth about them while accusing others of being mouth frothers is hardly fawning over them.
C) insulating homes is about government policy.
