Bright and Bayliss 3m? (1 Viewer)

I read that there are plenty of suitors for Bayliss, favourite being Villa with a tag of 2.5/3m.
Is that a fair price?
Also we are still very interested in Bright coming back.

Will Bayliss departure give us the funds to bring in Bright and what would Wolves ask for him?

Based on last season I'd take bright over Bayliss every time.

The problem is always that it's difficult to forecast how much young players will develop, or how quickly they develop.
For every Maddison there's a Stevenson, and that's not to write off Ben's future.
On last season's form, yes I would take Bright but I'm not sure if I would still say that in two years time if both were given similar opportunities
I think it's a bit academic anyway because I think the club will need any player sales income to fill the hole of reduced attendance

I guess this reply will come back to haunt me, but I really can't see what all the fuss is about Bayliss. He has been anonymous for many games and pretty mediocre in many more. I would take £3M for him.

Managed to carry Doyle for the first third of the season though. Not surprised he was burnt out by Christmas. :p

I agree he's been anonymous. It's how he develops his potential that will make or break him - will the good 20 minute spells turn into longer full-game efforts, or is this as good as it gets?

(Incidentally, any fee won't pay for Bright directly, it'll be used to plug a funding gap first, players second, surely?)

I think a lot of our fans are really clueless, Bayliss always looks one of the classier players on the pitch. He'll be a good investment for anybody at £3m, you don't get many driving midfielders like he can.
I think it's a wait and see.

if the deal's structured well with adequate bonuses if he does kick on, I'd take £3mil up front.

I think Bayliss is most effective when played further forward. He was great in L2 playing on the right.

But I don't think he's as effective in a midfield two and it places too much defensive responsibility on him and holds back his attacking instincts

He'll look so much better for the extended preseason break he's just had. People forget he only broke into the team in December '17 and then stepped up to league 1 with a bloke who could barely do more than jog next to him. So many new young players suffer a dip after about a year of playing week in week out but his came mid season because of the timing of his breakthrough. He still showed plenty of his potential though in a position that probably isn't his natural one - don't think he'd have got half the criticism he did if our strikers could have scored during that period but there was a downer on the team as a whole during the middle part of the season.

The issue with Bright is, he'll be on a wage at Wolves we won't be able to match. The only way he'll come here is on loan again. I'd take him coming to us in whatever capacity - but I'd be surprised if it happens.

Yep, agree. I think he has all the makings of being a top, top player.

As good as Bayliss is... I think he will be the 'sacrificial lamb' for the Birmingham move should a decent bid come in.

The fee should cover losses plus bring the players in who would have come if we were at the Ricoh.

Plus this is in the club's hands, unlike Wilson and the sell on fee.

And you have to remember, we already have Bayliss-lite.

Bayliss has certainly got potential but needs to be able to concentrate more on his passing with is woeful at times, but agree he was a little bit of a luxury at times last season

£3m + add ons - it's a yes from me. Good for Bayliss if he moves up to Championship (not PL - he's nowhere near ready and will either end up on loan or U23) because the game will suit his style more. Another year in L1 and stagnation could harm his price.

If this gave scope in the budget to bring Bright in permanently that'd be excellent, but would we need another CM next to Kelly to replace Bayliss? Shipley and Westbrooke could be vying for the job but Shipley's performances can be erratic game to game and Westbrooke is very untested.

Bright is a much better player. Would snap your hand off at £3m.

We massively undersold Maddison, but he was and is lightyears ahead of Bayliss.

I don’t get it with Bayliss, bang average league 1 player.
If he’s bang average, then all the other ‘good’ league one players must have had a nightmare last season.
Composure, movement, vision. That’s what I get.
I concede he had some barren spells last season (his first full season remember) but I’ll be very sorry to see him go.

Not for me, waste of a shirt many games last season.

Opinions is what it’s all about.

Bayliss has a spiky profile in terms of his all round game and his final ball is really inconsistent. BUT that said he can do a few things that prem players can't already. One of those things being travel with the ball at his feet at a superb speed. If a club can bring some of his other attributes up to that level he will be a top player and an asset to a Lower end prem or top end championship Club.

Yes I would sell him but for 5m and only if we are nailed on to get bright or someone garenteed as good in to replace him

What have you seen that thinks he’s ready for the championship ?

I think it's a bit less physical and he'll get more ref protection which will suit him trying to beat players. I don't think he's ready to be playing loads of games right from the start, but playing a handful and being rested for a bit so he's fresher towards the end will work well for him. Then he can push on the season or two after that.

Chances are he'll also have more specialist coaching etc available to him at a club higher up the pecking order too - he's still raw and an unpolished diamond but there's ability there. It's just going to take a few more years to develop and hopefully when that happens when he's 23/24 we'll get a nice juicy sell-on fee like Maddison.

Bayliss and Bright oK, but Hickman is the best player at the club since Robbie Keane and Hadji.

(If your reading this , Hickman, without using your finger word by word, it was a joke)

I wonder if we may struggle to sell Bayliss if he did end up on '10 bags in three days time' in Ibiza in reference to that Hickman video; may fail the drugs test!

Think he meant he'll be on 10 bags as in 10 grand p/w.
