Jamal Lowe was also much better. Thomas was up there with the best wingers in the league until he got into the box. That’s what separates him from the top wingers in league one, his lack of end product.

Why was he signed for a million pounds then as a 19 year old after one season?

I’m not saying that he hasn’t got the potential to be a championship standard winger, but in the one season he was with us he was wasteful. Robins also highlighted this at the kit launch. I’m sure he’ll go on to be a solid championship player, but he was probably a bit too early in his development whilst he was with us.

I seem to remember that Gillingham had a good winger too. Just looked on their website to see if I could get an aide memoire as to who it was, and amazed to see fatty Evans has blagged his way there.

A pity, as I have a friend who is a Gills fan, and I wouldn't wish him on anyone. Mind you, they had that thug Hessthoughtilerotherspellingsareavaailable

I was never convinced about the clamour for Chaplin, and he has done nothing to convince me he was the amswer. To move him on at a profit is good business and hasnt really weakened us.

Moving players out or in isnt always easy, it is a complicated business. There was no justifiable reason for hanging onto Chaplin considering the offer that was made.

I agree, the offer (if what is reported is true) is great business, I'm not saying we should have hung onto him as he wasnt a starter I don't think. I don't think we are weaker as a starting 11 but in terms of depth we now have a chance to actually better the squad we have with the right replacement who is better suited to how we want to play!

He's a fantastic prospect. The only thing he's lacking is that end product. It's a big thing to be missing but it's fixable. He's well worth what Barnsley paid for him if he can sort that.
That’s exactly why he’s a fantastic product. I honestly think If he sorts his finishing out, there is a premiership player on there

Birmingham beat Swindon 6-1 at their training ground today (Friday). My son watched the game and said that Daniel Crowley was excellent for Birmingham and ran the game playing as a number 10. Would Blues want or need Bright if this other new guy plays in his position and looks like being a stand out player?

My thoughts also dunno why we never went in for Crowley the lads a class act would destroy league 1,scored 1 with 2 assists today ran the game until he came off highlights are on you tube.

Wasn't just his finishing he never got his head up to pass he just had eye for goal when he got around 20 yards and half of his shots roller across the floor were blocked or went wide, he had the worst finishing in the squad.

It's literally all internet rumour based on some guy seeing him, and the description didn't even sound like him.

Wasn’t he at Barnsley not long ago-maybe on loan? Not sure he pulled up any trees during that spell, but I guess we will see this season if he can cut it in the Championship.

Had oodles of skill as a kid, went abroad after his Arsenal stint has developed and still only 21, timecwill tell.

Because they are a Premiership side and 1 million is nothing in the grand scheme of things to them; worth a punt.

A bit like us paying £20,000 on a 19 yr old non league player.

Thomas is a far better prospect than hiwula anyway

Absolute rubbish. Thomas is one year younger at 22 and achieved next to nothing. Hiwula has played far more adult football.

Thomas was 19 when he started last season.

Hiwula is 24 in September

Thomas was born March 1997 and made his debut aged 16 in 2014. So how could he be 19? He was 22 in March 2019. So he was 21 at the start of last season.
