Didn’t we sign Bjarni Gudjohnsen at the same time - I remember him being class and scoring a hattrick against Preston.

Like Deloumeaux - wasn’t the same player when we signed him

Yup added him just after. Crazy game that was against PNE, went 4-0 up very quickly then backed off

Just found the game - won 4-1, he scored twice and missed an 88 minute penalty.

Cresswell got sent off... explains why he didn’t terrorise us as usual

As I remember McSheffrey wanted the pen but let Gudjonsson take it-then got pissed off at the miss. Was tired at school the next day but well worth it

I think he will go to one of the promoted teams from our division, if he ends up going to Sunderland I would have to feel sorry for him.
So he'd still be playing in league 1 then?

We beat them in the Checkatrade in 2013 and I think in the Championship in 2007. Doyle scored the winner from miles out
Of course! How can I forget the checkatrade - one of my favourite games... Leon Clarke was marginally offside.

And the Doyle screamer - didn’t that put us top of the league? Before losing to Bristol City and going on the downwards slope

Yeah, think it got Dowie manager of the month before we got swindled by Brizzle. Bit of a crazy season that one with wins at Old Trafford and Blackburn but a last day swindle of our own.

If I was Robins I'd be telling him all about eh likes of George Thomas and Ben Stevenson who were too good to play for Cov.

He's only young, stay another season knowing you'll play week in week out in a team pushing for promotion. Better than 10 mins off the bench if you're lucky in the Championship before being loaned out in January again.

That’s our best sales pitch, if he resigns I think he’s going to score about 15+ goals and can earn a blockbuster move that way. This is clutching at straws though.

Don’t know why people are comparing Bright and Bayliss. Very, VERY different sorts of players. And it’s not as if both weren’t accommodated in the team for a large part of the season.

‘Acommodated’ is the key word, Bayliss isn’t a natural CM like say Kelly, Shipley or Doyle. Not good enough defensively or off the ball! Although they’re different players, why would they not be compared when arguably their best position is the same!

I don’t see how they are so different anyway, ok Bright has more trickery up his sleeve, but both are renowned for their ball carrying skills and driving the team forward.

We weren’t doing too badly with Bayliss there. Everyone has this picture that a CM has to do this job and that job. That’s fair, that’s their perfect CM. Pirlo didn’t carry the ball and didn’t even try and defend. Scholes couldn’t tackle to save his life.

I think Shipley looks a lot more assured in the CM pair than Bayliss did, id go as far to say I've never seen him play a bad game there in his natural position. Bayliss has to be further up the pitch for me.

Blackburn in the Cup last season, and Morecambe away in September. Played at CM then and looked poor. But they were early days.

Was it Blackburn where he went Left Back or a different one? Looked decent there.

Blackburn was him and I think Bayliss CM and they got slaughtered all game.
Shrewsbury he went LB in the Checkatrade, He did look good there.

Ah yeah it was Shrewsbury.

The Blackburn one was a bit of a bloodbath off the top of my head, was baffling why they were both put there against a decent Blackburn midfield.

Wolves fan I work with said he was a regular starter last year in the Championship and looked a really big talent but needed to fill out physically and last the games more. He just wasn't ready for premier football and his Portuguese wasn't good enough either so hence he got farmed out. Although I'd love us to sign him as a 19yo I doubt he'll be coming down to us in league 1 on a permanent basis.

Didn’t get a chance as Peter Reid took over and shipped them out. He tried to do the same with McSheffrey.

It was McAllister who tried to dump McSheffrey. Probably one of the most clueless managers we've ever had.

Was that the group he sent training on their own at the memorial park? Trying to rack my brain about who else was in that bomb squad. Got a feeling Eustace and Joachim were among them, but can't remember exactly.

Yes, that's it. Can't remember who else was frozen out though. McSheffrey was sent to Luton, I seem to remember.
