The 2 in midfield need to sit higher up the pitch and play more box to box than just holding, I think they are supposed to rotate and one joins in the attack but they're not doing it with any zip at all. I think Rudoni needs to be offering himself for the ball a lot more to create angles and open up spaces.
Not only that but be sitting back there forcing the defence line to have to sit further back which caused large gaps in front of our defence but behind our midfield

who said god given right? I didnt

however

after spending over 35mill we should be going for top 4 not just top half. not to mention the additional revenue from season tickets, kit sales etc.
To be fair it’s too early to get upset about expectations and I think by game ten we should hopefully have a better view.

But, I think this year fans on here and opposing fans have high expectations on us this year. I can understand fans disappointment on the start after we’ve struggle to start well for the last three years.

Of course if we win the next seven on the trout, all of this will be nonsense 🤣

but robins did acknowledge the expectations and didn’t seem to back away from them.

Not upset bud

just stating that the amount of money spent we shouldn’t just be aiming for mid table like some on here have said

we got into the playoffs spending the bare minimum

My main concern is that if we don’t go up this season, the following one will be yet another rebuild job.

And If we do go up, it will be another Rebuild Job. 😎

He did second half after the changes

It’s a very good point. You have to concede space somewhere on the pitch and I think we were concerned by Armstrong’s pace up against Binks and Lati. Thomas has had a poor start to the season but is crucial if we want to sit really high.

Has anyone worked out what this new style is? Because I'm not seeing anything different.
Pass, yesterday was deffo long ball, and a pretty bad version of it for what, 70% of the game.

I think the obvious instructions were "if you're struggling, hit the big man"!

I'm reality we just need to move the ball faster, possibly give the 3 behind Simms the licence to rotate or at least roam to find space because the gaps (in attack and defence) are to big. Someone needs to fill them, we don't need a shape change, we need in game management. The lads on the field should have been able to workout that they were up shit Streak after 15 minutes.

The tempo was too slow, which leads to players hurriedly launching it anywhere or back to the keeper. Playing out from the back is fine as a strategy but players need to be confident and able to find teammates in one or two touches to break the inevitable press.

Even against Oxford you had Lati on more than one occasion booting it back to the keeper with so much power you thought he was trying a Kitching. That’s not the point behind the plan, at least I hope not.

Shame we didn’t try and offside trap him and stay high. Whenever I kept an eye on him he seemed to stray offside consistently. But 100% have to give it up somewhere.

Was more weird about the press seemed to be non existent which is confusing for a possession based side which robins wants us to be.

What I replied to you literally said we should be challenging for automatics that is what I disagree with which I took you meant as minimum. If that’s not what you meant then fair enough. If it is I just think that’s unrealistic.

My point being the money we’ve spent has literally just bought us into a large group of teams challenging for the top half, playoffs and automatics because of what are starting point was before in terms of squad quality and depth compared to everyone else. It hasn’t catapulted us above those teams I mentioned to have a superior squad to them. Plus we have lost two incredible players for this division along the way and had to rebuild.

The additional revenue you mentioned is a drop in the ocean compared to prem tv money and parachute payments for those clubs that have had access to those.

To be clear in my opinion if we are not top half in and around the playoffs come May then yes I think that would be an underachievement. In the same way if we went up automatically I think it would be overachievement. But it’s early days yet and we still don’t know what the final squad will look like post deadline day. We all know the target Doug has set robins he’s been clear with it…playoffs in at least in 3 out of 5 seasons. If he doesn’t make that or it’s clear we are falling well away from that target I’m sure there will be consequences.

I think that’s a tad optimistic.

I have looked at the odds being offered by four of the leading bookmakers and not one has us in the top six, although a few have us down for seventh.

If we can get in the extra players we all know we need then I think a place in the playoffs is a realistic target. It grieves me to say it but I really can’t see us challenging for automatic promotion.

I agree with @procdoc that it’s only been 3 games so there’s still time, however we do need to start picking up our performances soon, we can’t go 10 games+ into a season for example and still not have found our feet.

I do also agree with what @GIMOC is saying though, the gelling excuse shouldn’t be being used anymore, it’s only really Rudoni that’s the main difference (and then Asante/Mason-Clark when they come on) but I expect quality players like Asante and Rudoni who are used to the championship to know their role well and do a job for us quite quickly. Shouldn’t take us 70/80 minutes to score a goal against a side like Bristol who will most likely end up mid-table.

Whilst I do agree we really need to be aiming for the play offs as a minimum this season, I think you are doing Bristol City a bit of a disservice there, they are a decent side who knock it around well

They'll be in the top half imo, we'll play much worse sides than them

Strange. Lusting after a player with no assists last season, and a player that we actually played better and picked up more points without. Tells me something else is going wrong to be honest. Not catastrophic by any means though, but we are just having a slow and stuttering start.

start of the season. we were 5th favourites. obviously that’s changed slightly but before a ball was kicked we were one of the favs for playoffs and only 9/4 for promotion. since the days of relegation back in 2001 we were never that short in the betting

It’s no surprise that our odds have lengthened once we started playing.

I can’t see us getting automatic promotion. This week is key for us. If we can get in the players we need, especially the midfielder, then the playoffs are very much on.

We will never know now but I think having Stamenic pinch from under our nose was a big blow.

Seemed a mistake to me to decide it was either/or with Stamenic and Browne.

The target is actually promotion within that time rather than just making the play-offs.

do yourself favour and ignore duggers, your posting experience would be far better

you do know he unlike GIMOC has had postings deleted for racial and religious bigotry?

Didn’t even think it was a free kick that eventually led to the corner… just Scott Twine diving for a FK in a decent position. It’s literally the ONLY thing he’s any good at.

Proved wrong so resort to insult - what a simpleton

you’re wrong and you don’t have a clue, and I can’t replay a live event unfortunately

try supporting your own players rather than trying to find something to criticise that isn’t there

Hi mate , the incident is around 1:29:19

Can you clarify for me where kasey was fouled twice ... cheers
