50% of the time you are correct about Palmers passing. The other 50% he gives the ball away.Great ball from Palmer, basically told Simms where to run and that was essentially the difference tonight. Good finish from Simms too.
I maintain Palmer is the best passer of the ball in attacking areas that we have. Weight of pass is almost always perfect
Are the odds that high? He started quite, well first touch was poor but he battled to win it back then seemed to think fuck it ive done enough and disappear for an hour50% of the time you are correct about Palmers passing. The other 50% he gives the ball away.
I mean, I’m going on like I’m his agent now so I will stop now but have to correct made up stats posted as facts. 81% pass success rate.50% of the time you are correct about Palmers passing. The other 50% he gives the ball away
de Bruyne is far better than Palmer.Palmer isn't the best passer in the squad but he sees, and sometimes makes, passes that no one else in the squad can.
Of course those kind of high risk passes have a low completion rate.
Kevin de Bruyne has one of the lowest pass completion rates in the Premier League. And no, before anyone says it, I'm not comparing Palmer to de Bruyne ffs.
You reckon?pp
de Bruyne is far better than Palmer.
Wilson did well. Thought Kitching was superb. Dasilva did well.
Torp, Eccles and Rudoni has to be the three on Friday. Miles above Allen.
BTA was very poor first half but showed some good movement to make a couple of chances second. He’s certainly an upgrade on Godden.
Been saying this for ages. He doesn’t have the ability to play in the Championship and needs to drop down to League 2 to start playing regularly.Feel sorry for Tavares… his position is not out on the right wing. But he needs to move on for the sake of his career now.
Don't want to hammer him but he is the type of player we bring on when we are winning, he hasn't really shown that he is the player to come on and change a game since he scored 'that goal' he is a fringe player at best and at his age now he's not a kid either so wouldn't be surprised to see him out on loan or let goBeen saying this for ages. This is correct.
Last season he was finding Simms and wrights runs more than anyone else.
I struggle to understand the hate for Palmer from some. He is what he is, if you want energy and simple passing you've got the likes of Allen
He's good enough as a squad player in a promotion team as he offers a completely different skillset. To be fair, at the level we are now and the next level we aspire to be - it isn't unreasonable to want a player who can find your forwards and have energy and mobility.
I do like elements of Palmer, but last night was an A Typical display. Great assist, but then enormously frustrating periods of losing the ball in basic areas.
It was a good ball not a great ball. It was a little over hit and in front of Simms who had to stretch and did well to control it.Great ball from Palmer, basically told Simms where to run and that was essentially the difference tonight. Good finish from Simms too.

Surprised that while recovering from his achilles injury his training programme didn't include a lot of creatine and weights. If he wants to compete physically at a professional level he can't carry on being 8 stone dripping wet.I’m not sure he’s anything to be totally honest. Would honestly be surprised if he’s still a professional in a few years. Above anything from a technical point of view he’s so unbelievably slight and lightweight for a footballer
Simms wanted it feet, would have been a back foot touch into space then for the shot. The defenders wouldn't have got there. Not discrediting Simms… I just mean it would’ve been so easy to play that pass into feet (by which time the defender closes down).
Actually I thought the pass last night for goal was overhit and Simms did brilliantly off balance with a very decent first touch to create chance for a shot. Palmer has clear talent but needs to tone down theatrics a tadge.Great ball from Palmer, basically told Simms where to run and that was essentially the difference tonight. Good finish from Simms too.

Which is fine if that was the only option, but often he either turns down or doesn't see a much easier progressive pass in order to keep the ball and, at times, seems to be waiting to deliberately try that Hollywood ball that has a cat in hell's chance of coming off, almost because it will look great the one time in ten it comes off.Palmer isn't the best passer in the squad but he sees, and sometimes makes, passes that no one else in the squad can.

The desperation to put down Palmer gets more and more bizarre. I find him as frustrating as anyone and wish he would get basics done more, but people trying to make out the assist was overhit, or simms did all the work for it etc etc is just really weird.
Simms was stood square on rather than looking to run on, hence he was slow to react to it. The difference is the ball Palmer played is down on the history books as an assist for a goal, because he encouraged the forward into the space past the defender where he had a clear shot on goal.
It was over hit.

If you think the coaches ask it to be played flat to a striker who then has to figure out how to beat defender to get space for a shot, rather than play it into the space where striker can run through clear, then I don't know what to tell you.

Agreed, the defender lost sight of simms and gave the room for the ball to be played in. Again another reason the ball was the right choice as if it was played to feet the defender has time to square up and block route to the goal.Thought it was good by both
Defender not so much
that's what happens when players try progressive passing50% of the time you are correct about Palmers passing. The other 50% he gives the ball away.
Tbf I said it was a good ball, just not a great ball.Thought it was good by both
Defender not so much
but if he plays it too his feet he's outside the area with a defender still in front of himAs I said earlier, it looks as though Simms wants it to feet, an outside right foot touch forward into space, to get the shot of next touch. He's in space, you only need half a yard.
He's holding his run to stay onside.
I said it was a good ball, just not a great ball.
He's really not. His touch would have taken him to about where he a had the shot. Anyway. A big backfoot touch into space.but if he plays it too his feet he's outside the area with a defender still in front of him
