Burge again! (2 Viewers)

Now i know penalties are hard to save
However, by the time the one last night was struck, Burge was virtually already on the floor by his left hand post

At least, make yourself big, and go late
it is clear why he has hardly ever saved one (I think he did once)

This should be basic coaching

It was obvious at points last night that Robins had instructed him to kick it or roll it out to the defenders because he didn't trust him to kick it long. Burge kicked one out just by Robins and he gave him a terrible look and there were a lot fewer punts after that.

Have always advocated feeding your fullback with a roll out or throw to them. Why spend ages regaining possession for a keeper to hoof it down field and gamble 50/50 on losing possession again?

Our problem is that the fullback then hoofs it downfield.

my comment was about Burge increasing the %ages. not putting them at zero
I have played in goal at a reasonable level, and I am talking about giving yourself a chance

It is not specifically about yesterday , but his overall poor record at saving penalties

some keepers are very good at it for a reason
Burge is not - also for a reason
Who did you play for?

Burge wasn’t at fault for either of last nights goals, but having said that he would only be on the bench in an ideal situation. We started this season without a good keeper, and without a proven centre forward. So it’s hardly surprising that we’ve begun to fall away. If you couple that with the fact that our January signings were clearly panic measures ( 2 unfit players and 1 crap winger) who were only added because they were free, and our creative players picked up bad injuries, then I’m afraid the writing is on the wall for this season.

First of all that penalty was just a joke.

Secondly, I think there’s no way he should be conceding that header.

Absolutely. I was bang in line with it. The bloke attempted an overhead kick, got nowhere near it and fell over. The referee should be ashamed as should that pathetic excuse of a linesman who had a perfect view yet remained silent.

Agree on the second comment too. Granted it should’ve been dealt with by one of Vincenti, Willis, Stokes, Hyam or McDonald beforehand, but he was very slow to react and should’ve got something on it. Evident on the highlights.

Cant see what he done wrong last night-but we all know if we want to progress we won’t with jokers like Burge long term.

You wanted no contracts to be given to the ‘losers’ last season so if we go up using your logic they become ‘winners’ and should all be given 3 year extensions?

Depends who it is. I recall lots who were out of their depth last season along with the rest of us, ultimately culminating in our relegation.

I'd like to know why he was selected ahead of O'Brien. How is Burge first choice in the first place?
Do you really need to ask?

OBrian is not very good, seen enough of him to know Burge is far better.
Or from what you have seen do you think he is better then Burge?

I could borrow you my new glasses if you need them:)

Skybluesam66 is a genius. How could we not see this. If it wasn't for Burge we'd have won every game and not conceded a goal yet. And if we don't win the cup we might as well just get rid of him.

I just burnt my bleedin toast. I blamed Burge for that .

And if I can't get parked in town later or find there's a big queue in Wilkinson's, there's going to be all hell to pay with the bloke.

Burge Again! The tale of a troubled young goalkeeper who finds salvation in the Lord. Scenes of poor goalkeeping may be upsetting for younger viewers.

'The Burge'

Burge drops the ball and tries to survive the night, as hoardes of knife and baseball bat wielding Sky Blue anarchists try to beat his door down, intent on heavily chastising him.
