For those that go to every game, sorry but it's not possible for me to do that, what reason do you think MR is not starting with O'Hare.
All I see is rave reviews so I can't see why he doesn't start

I don’t think he’s confident in his stamina over 90 mins yet and maybe he thinks westbrook/Shipley offer more defensively. Plus his pace is nice off the bench. I’m sure he’ll start eventually.

My thinking for today is that the need for defensive cover and to support the still new Walsh mixed with crucially the fact that on Tuesday Wimbledon are going to sit deep so we will need a creative spark to get things going... O'Hare.

Think we had a slightly off day tbf and Burton at home were not that good other than in periods when we sat back. Think callers are giving Burton too much credit. If you were a home fan you would be pleased you did not lose it and should have when Kasteneer missed. We will be better next game.
Burton forced us to 'sit back'.

Thought we were fairly poor going forward today but kept clean sheet against a team with playoff aspirations and secured a good point.
Sign of a decent team is picking up the points without playing your best so as long as we win Tuesday it will be a very good week for the sky blues.

Sorry if I’m repeating anything that’s already been said, but I can’t be arsed to read back thru the thread!
My take on today.
Excellent result given some of our players had indifferent, or even poor games today. I’m taking about both full backs (Dabo had a shocker), Hiwula, Jobello - even Walsh was below par.
We could definitely have lost this, but a win would hardly have been hugely flattering either.
I remain a bit worried about the shape of our midfield. They often seem second best.
Plus points - Marosi was solid and pulled off a couple of superb saves.
Hyam and McFadzean were really strong today. O’Hare again looked very dangerous. Kastaneer showed glimpses of promise.
One final thought.
If the gap between the standard of football in the premiership and league 1 is huge, then the difference between the quality of officiating is absolutely fucking colossal.
The ref was horrific today (including a few minor decisions that went our way)
8 games in, unbeaten and top of the league - PUSB!

To be fair arguably we are playing with our second string midfield. It could well be O’Hare Kelly Allen when they’re all fit.

Probably would have taken a point before the game. Think if we win on Tuesday it makes today look a great result. Think as a whole we played okay. Defence was really good but Dabo still has moments where he worries me. O’hare is a real exciting player, obviously something robins is seeing that we are not to not start him as I feel he brings a whole another dimension to us.

...and i have to disagree with Oggy. O'Hare should have started, think we would have won then. Waiting to lose b4 changing seeems silly. Must be brave with decision making and ruthless.

Good post and 99% agree. Just maybe a little harsh though on Dabo - he over commits at times - but I like him a lot he adds attitude and aggression to the team. And gets forward. And at one point in the game he was in midfield and perfectly executed a Cruyff like turn to set up an attack. Not perfect today but overall decent in my view. And McCallum is also impressively improving game after game.

Agreed Paxman. O'Hare is so good that he pushes teams back 10-15 yards and creates space. An absolute nightmare to play against. Also think O'Hare makes Godden a much more dangerous player (as he can pick out his runs) and is perfectly suited for playing in fast wingers into offensive positions. For me O'Hare is the first name on the team sheet. I can see what Robins is doing though; the midfield three have done well for him (Walsh/Wesbrooke/Shipley) and it would be a little harsh to drop Westbrooke. But as you say football is a ruthless business.
One thing for certain - O'Hare for me certainly negates the loss of 10 Bags Bayliss (who I think will be a big success in the Championship) this season.

Decent point that and a fair reflection for both teams in that both deserved to get something out of the game. Was like a basketball match especially 2nd half and I thought we had nicked it but Kasteneer’s finish should have been better. With the Sky Blue tinted glasses off I think in all fairness that would have been harsh on Burton.

No doubt Wimbledon will be sitting deep Tuesday O’Hare has to start no question wingers need to be putting in a good performance to support Godden

Nope, sorry not allowed.

We aren't allowed to highlight areas of improvement. Everyone is 10/10 and we're top of the league.
Kind of misrepresenting what people say I feel. It’s one thing to say we weren’t at our best, it’s a similar thing to say Dabo (for example) had a bad day (not that I think he did), but it’s the Kastaneer is shit comments that are ludicrous.

I’d love to see any of us going to japan, not speaking a word of the language, not knowing any of our teammates (and due to the language barrier possibly not making friends quickly), not knowing anyone when we go back to our temporary rented flat (they won’t be millionaires after all) and yet still performing to the best of our abilities.

It takes time for most human being to adapt. Sure, there are the exceptions that just click. They usually know the style of play, some of the players, speak the language and are used to the culture. Now is not a great time for non-English speaking immigrants (in case anyone has noticed) to come to the UK. Kastaneer and jobello need to be made welcome and given encouragement because they probably aren’t getting it from non-CCFC sources, and they are human beings before they are pro footballers.

So we are totally ‘allowed’ to give opinions, to highlight areas of improvement if it doesn’t involve puerile insults (shit, can’t kick a ball, lazy etc) and to constructively criticise. Constructive criticism is a hard skill to master without resorting to outright, uncalled for criticism. There’s a difference and it’s important.

I get the impression with Kastaneer, for example, that if he feels the love he will run his heart out for us, but if he hears negative comments and groans all of the time he may well not play with the same passion and commitment. He looks like he’s lacking in confidence to me, he wants desperately to show how good he can be and is therefore lunging into tackles and making silly mistakes (there was one really obvious and utterly pointless ‘tackle’ from behind today where he just looked frustrated and over-committed in a daft place too. Think he even more than jobello needs time. He’s not getting as much game-time at the moment, possibly as MR is still working out where and how and where he is best used, and that lack of time, communication during the game and verbal support (due to the language barrier) after the game is all having an effect.

They need time and support and they could both be players for us.

And we should all ask ourselves what we would do in their situations. They have Internet access, they can read and they naturally are curious about how the fans perceive them. Some of them read the forums and definitely read Twitter which is even more full of shit. We all want to be loved, football players are no different.

Telling a player ‘I wish he’d take it down the channels more often’ or whatever is totally different than he’s shit. There’s too much of the latter for me and always has been. Not heard any booing of our own players yet this season (and long may it continue), but certain players are attracting undue criticism that isn’t helpful (Sam McCallum for example has done amazingly since being thrown on out of position at the age of 18 and playing more games since. He makes the odd mistake (human, 18, league1) but he has also looked like a very competent fullback and supports the attack well. Got some useful crosses over today after good work on the left with various players at times. Made a couple of errors and got pulled out of position a bit, but that’s just experience. Another one with a future imo, how high he goes is largely up to him (and his coaches).

Imagine McCallum truly pushing Mason for the spot. With dabo on the other side. I think our fullback are one of our strengths at the moment.

Kastaneer speaks english, as most dutch people do. Don't think Holland to England is much of a culture shock tbh.

Jobello then, one of them didn’t when they arrived. And any new country is a culture shock tbf. All I’m saying is it doesn’t surprise me that the two foreign imports are taking their time to get going. And even so, we are top of the league.

What I like is that we are here with more to come and arguably we haven’t yet played the strongest team. Still top.

Kastaneer reminds me of Biamou and his first few games, on tip toes running around like Bambi and struggling to get involved properly, Kastaneer the total opposite, like a bull in a china shop, over eager and trying way too hard, if it takes him a few games to settle in then so be it, if he improves the way Biamou did over time then we will have a very good player on our hands, i thinks he`s shown more good than bad so far, give it time!

Grendel reading that would be alright.

So is he like Biamou or not?
