If only it was 'Buy One, Get One Free'.....
:thinking about:Then again, we're not actually 'buying' are we?
Should be 'Get One Free, Sell One'.....
So.....
On Monday, Steven Elliott signed
On the Tuesday, Cranie left the club,
On Wednesday Fleck signed
..................................................
Thursday, Keogh off to Leeds ?
Friday, Kilbane signs ?
Saturday, Bigi off to Newcastle ?
Sunday - Day of rest
Then again, we're not actually "selling" either!
Oh come on. You were moaning we weren't signing anyone the other day! Fleck is a brilliant signing. As for Keogh, well his departure will hardly be a shock, will it?
where am i moaning ?
Keogh, McPake and Cranie were always goibg to join Eastwood, Clingan and Platt out the door

Because the implication is the club is still asset stripping and not trying to assemble a squad to make a realistic challenge. Cranie was not sold his contract had expired. If Keogh leaves we are looking at a possible player exchange. For league one the two signings made are of good quality. This is encouraging. We are being linked with buying players. The fear for you is this may reflect positively and the ownership discussion goes below the radar.
Also provides a bit of an interesting problem for you Duffy-if the 'worst manager in the history of the club' goes onto deliver a successful season, would you eat humble pie? Providing Thorn hasn't scoffed it all by that point, that is.

My real question I suppose is-what would he have to do to win over the doubters (myself included)?

As I said CM I've got big reservations myself-but if he has a very successful season, he'll deserve at least a bit of credit in my eyes.
Which is what I'm asking-how much does he have to do get some praise off the hardened critics amongst us?
WRONG !
Fact is we still have a very small squad in terms of senior players...
A central defence options of Craine, Wood, McPake, Keogh, Cameron, has already lost 2, and possibly 3, and we used all of these last year (and Herman) due to injuries, suspensions etc.
Elliott and Fleck are good signings...but they have mearly (in terms of bodies) replaced 2 outgoing players in McPake and Cranie this week, and this time last week the squad was too small.
Whats changed ?
I don't think many of us could come up with an arbitrary success point (e.g. league position, points), just because we're probably not that familiar with the opposition in L1. It's going to be an eyeball thing more than anything else.
Not wrong. These players are a statement of intent - they are high quality for the league we are in. The club has said that a replacement will be sought for Cranie. This now has credibility.

Statistically relegation from this league gives a chance of bounce back. Peterborough and Sc-unithorpe achieved this. Are you saying they increased the squad and increased wage budget on relegation? This I would question unless you have evidence to the contrary.

In a previous discussion you defended the manager by saying the bookies were relegation favourites. So you believe they are a barometer of strength or weakness. Our odds are shortening so by your own argument the squad is stronger.

You made the OP as some sly dig at the owners. So r of us are now more focused on events on the field. Sorry if that is disappointing.
