It's all part of the SISU masterplan to dupe the gullible into thinking there is a light at the end of the tunnel... Byng may be part of it, or may be being used. :D

My problem with all of this is......ML says that he is not being paid; so, where does his reward come from? A sale? If so, then talking to Byng may give us a clue as to the eventual outcome.

You meet people and you have an instant opinion. Sometimes this is positive or negative. I am sure many of Harold Shipmans patients had a very positive opinion of him. So you form an opinion which could be valid or not. I formed an opinion and cannot really air that if its positive or not as it may be wrong.

Or that opinion may destroy this thread in an instant :)

Look I am on a mobile in a wine bar and have my ultra blue contacts on - I'm doing my best but can hardly see.

So you can't see without contact lenses and you can't see with your contact lenses in.

It all makes sense now :D

For us to improve as a club and possibly start what would be a long haul back to somewhere near former status it has to be without SISU and Seppalla just can't see a chance of improvement on the football pitch happening under them. On field improvement imo will only happen with new people at the helm. Byng has been courting us for over twelve months and certainly doesn't have the money personally but his contacts might. He hasn't gone away and ML I am sure as an "independent" director and what looks like the now official spokesman for our owners hopefully will be feathering his own nest a little and could be our only hope because without change I fear for our future to be honest.

Byng was at the awards too. Maybe I should have read too much into that too? :D

Award for most improved email technique?

Byngs 'contacts' are interested in rail & associated property developments on the East side of Birmingham (near the NEC) linking into HS2.. so beware of the threat of a franchise relocation in 'the Coventry Area' (its only 8 miles away, but it is Birmingham on the other side of the green belt).

I believe Byng's interest was due to building a railway station and connections to HS2, saying his backers wanted to get into this and developing around the Ricoh was a starting point, or something like that. While allowing a station to be build has had approval, if CCC aren't selling the freehold, does this not scupper those development plans?

Nope, their route starts E of NEC and heads in a NE direction, away from Coventry.

ML was there having fixed Byng's fax machine. Isn't Byng another form of SISU no significant personal wealth big ideas but dependent on foreign investors speculating on government approval of planning etc (JR result, fisher fantasy bowl). Other club owners just get on and do it without the self-publicity. Having said if it means an early return to the Ricoh I'm all aboard the Byng express

So can you be sure it was ML and Byng? Not the most reliable of witnesses for identification purposes are you? Contact lenses in our out you can hardly see.

Oh for goodness sake - the "ultra blue" was a joke as cloughie previously berated me for wearing them at all. Its only a problem at short distances.

I've already said where I saw them and it was them.

I hope that light isn't a train coming the other way.

This is my conclusion on the Byng situation, i think he knows the JR is the "game changer" for all parties involved which means he probably can buy what he wanted too last year but only when the club and stadium are reunited! I think Paul Fletcher has also been to these meetings with ML which i get the impression that once the club is united with the stadium they want in, that maybe a % of shares in Otium or 51% shares of it which would im guessing result in a takeover of the club with sisu still shareholders maybe?!?!?!

My impression of it all is ML wants the club back at the Ricoh he always has said that and i think he thought we would only play a % of games at Northampton not a full season as, in his own opinion on the evidence for the JR the council wouldn't want to take it that far as they would not win. I get the impression Byng thinks the same and the only outcome he can see is that the Council loosing the JR, a deal similar to the one agreed in principle in 2012 is offered, the club return to the Ricoh, he buys into it with his contacts..... Maybe then a fresh start for all and we go back to talking how crap Baker is or how annoying Conor Thomas first touch is........

Just the impression I get any way

Well the meeting was either club related, which with Byngs history of not knowing how to email or fax not leaving me with the greatest confidence in him, or was it a model Railway Enthusiasts convention?

Was Byng dressed in his Fat Controller outfit and Labovitch in his train drivers dungarees?

Wine bar? Grendel's posting from the 80s, get him!

I even had a jacket with sleeves rolled up to the elbows - oh and no socks of course.

To be fair wine bar was stretching the imagination just a little bit.

What I find most shocking about this "story" is that apparently ML eats real food like everyone else. I'd always assumed that he lived on a steady diet of unicorns blood.

No that wasn't blood that was Tomato Juice

No I would say he is a fan so would presumably want the best for the club. Gut reaction -- probably a better bet than what we have and what we might have ended up with.

I thought they were asking you about Paul Fletcher not Byng

We have had Paul Fletcher on the board before haven't we?

Didn't he work for both us and acl? Somebody who has been in both camps. By us I mean ccfc.

I believe he was on the board for CCFC and resigned?
I think he was in charge if the development of the Ricoh then was rewarded with a place on the board afterwards, but I may have it wrong.
He is not a Cov fan though he is a Northerner.
If he was on the board in the past I imagine those who don't want the old lot involved again will not be too keen on him
