PROMISING teenage defender Nathan Cameron has signed a new deal with Coventry City that will keep him at the club until June 2013.
The 19-year-old broke into the first team last season and proved to be a major success story for the club and the Academy.
He has also represented England at under-20 level and manager Andy Thorn said he was delighted to see Cameron, who turns 20 in November, put pen to paper.
"Nathan was one of the surprises of last season," said the Coventry City manager.
"Very few people expected him to start the first game of the season, himself included, but he took the opportunity with both hands and became a vital member of the squad.
"We are developing a strong base of homegrown talent here and that's really positive for Coventry City."
Cameron started more than 20 matches for the first team last season following an impressive spell with non-league Nuneaton Town the season before.
I think we'll be selling one of our centre backs now. My guess Wood or McPake. Wood would be my choice, and would probably
command a larger fee. We'll be alright without him with Cranie, Turner, McPake, Cameron and even Keogh.
shows how low we have become when ppl get this excited about Nathan Cameron signing a new deal! Finally! Very good news. Let's build on this.
Very good news hopefully we can do a dann on him and train him to be a good player...then keep hold of him for more than a season
I suspect it's a stance which would rightly be relaxed somewhat if the player were not a younger man already at the club. You really have no choice but to kowtow to agents to some degree in order to bring players in, which is sadly how the game is.
