We have got 5 strikes on the books:

Tuddy
Sordell
Adgei
Kwame
Wright

We also have McBean and George Thomas in reserve.

Granted, we are not scoring goals for fun by any means, but is TM saying hes given up on some of those mentioned above? We're never going to play more than 2 at any time, and really only need a further two in reserve, so I'd say we're already a bit over-manned in this area.

Which leads me to think that TM thinks he won't be able to coach them team to get enough goals out of the strikers he has, and wants more. If I was the chairman, I'd say "try to get goals out of our existing 5/7 strikers and use the budget where we have more holes in the squad".

I would prefer another winger, CB (or two) and a hard-tackling midfielder. Clearly there is a quantity/quality debate, but as we haven't spent all our budget and need bodies to fill the gaps elsewhere in the squad, it surprises me that TM appears to be prioritising a new striker. I think he might be starting to panic.

A fit Jones and Reid
Could supply an absolute hatful at this level for a madine type of striker.
Not really sure if Sordell can do that?

TM's plane would be to bring in a free agent who he believes will score 15+ goals a season and send Mcbean + Wright back

Not with "TM we trust" and his sterile formations. Think he already recognises Reid is another dud signing.

Last year Mowbray was saying we needed to utilise the loan market for the type of strikers needed to get out this division and this year we're relying on free agents after the transfer window has shut? Absolute cluster fuck of a summer! What does it say about the confidence he has in his current strikers, why even bother taking Wright/Agyei on loan if he thinks they can't score 15 goals. I'm really starting to think TM is just going through the motions til his contract is done.

I agree that we desperately need another creative winger. We also need to move to a back 4 immediately, and I'm not alone in thinking this(the CT team predictor shows 442, as I myself submitted, being the choice of these submitting formations this morning).

Personally I think we need to give quite a lot of game time to the likes of Reid and Kwame to properly assess them i.e. 6-7 starts each. It's a bit too early to declare them to be "duds" but as I mentioned previously on another thread I do wonder whether TM is now starting to panic.

When we played against Bradford here last season, it was plain to see Reid is a dud that has zero end product. I said at the time too.
Such a disappointing signing, and especially as anyone with any sense would have known before we did sign him

I completely agree with you, but think about it, have we even got two center backs you'd want to play in a back four? One injury to Turnbull or Harries and we literally couldn't field two proper center backs anyway. Yeah, you could throw Ricketts in, but everyone keeps saying how shit he is. You could through Willis in there, but then imagine him and Harries as the center backs?

They've completely fucked it up.

I'll make more judgement on Reid against Oldham, as it's unfair for me to particularly comment yet.

Certainly not getting the impression he has got any end product at all, in fact, I think Jones is massively overrated in that field too.

First choice CBs are Willis and Turnbull. I've seen enough of Willis to know he is not a full back. Ricketts as first choice on the bench, as can also fill in at RB if Sterry needs to come off. I'd bring in another CB to provide cover / competition too, which I why I was hoping the Finn would be signed.

Harries isn't anywhere near ready for the first team yet, limit him to the odd game, maybe farm him out on loan, and keep him focused on the development squad.

Yeah, fair enough.

Not really a promotion chasing defence though is it? Far from it.

Indeed. If we splashed a bit of money on a Turner or Reda type player, I'd have a lot more confidence. We only have one defender over 22 and he's a 34-year old carthorse. We are crying out for experience and physical presence.

The alarming thing was after one game Mowbray commented that Reid needed work on his finishing. I assume he bothered to check the goals per game ratio before signing him.

Why was everyone raving about him for this game when he signed? I cannot remember him personally

He did have an amazing game, but amazing doing absolutely nothing. His whole game was there to see, ran our defence ragged but nothing he did created any chances. It was bizarrely frustrating, at the game I told my Mrs that a would hate him here.

There's a reason he was unemployed when we signed him

I hope not but look away from the Bradford City 'love-in' over Reid and turn to the Sheff Utd supporters view and they were well surprised that we signed him because he did naff all for them and was widely regarded as useless.

It went in off Ferguson's beard....

Apparently, Mowbray saw Sordell as the player to play on the right of his front 3, rather than the number 9. Clearly, that's Jodi Jones best position as well, so is Sordell a waste of a wage? Or is he now going to be played in a position he wasn't signed for?

The formation blatantly needs changing. Even back to the 4-2-3-1 we played last season.
RCC
Sterry - Willis - Turnbull - Page
Gadzhev - McCann
Jones - Lameiras? - Reid
Sordell/Agyei/Wright/Tudgay

Reid, Sordell and Tudgay are simply not good enough. The writing was on the wall as soon as we signed them. Waste of wages even if they are cheap.

Reid ain't a centre forward though. He's a mental signing if we play him there sure, it seems. If e play him as a winger, I've still got hope!

As we've seen so many other similarities pointed out over the last few days I might aswell point out....... remember towards the end of SP tenure and the numerous dud strikers that came into the club? Almost like he was throwing shit hoping something might stick!

Cheap is all TM can bring in to the club, John Sillett once said we can shop at Harrods how instead of Woolworths !!

Tony Mowbray is having to shop at EXCHANGE and MART, How times have changed. It's a shame Woolworths is Closed down. :rage:

TM says he doesn't believe any of the ones he has signed are capable of scoring 15 goals a season
I think the entire team will struggle to get 15-20 goals over the season based on the fact we have 2 from 6.
