Why not?

Because x club has signed 5 freebies and 5 loans and y club has signed 5 freebies and 5 loans is a completely meaningless comparison. It does not in anyway mean that x club has similar constraints to y club. It's a massive over simplification that contains almost none of the information required to make comparison.

Noggin, don't disagree with what you say and relegation to league 2 is a distinct possibility there are no guarantees for us but there are two sides to the coin here. Don't think the crowds will be much different either in League 1 playing poorly or league two we are pretty much down to those who will go no matter what.

The point I was trying to make was that as bad as we think it is that at this level it is much much easier to improve and push up the league for play off or promotion than being in the higher leagues. There is the potential for a young manager to make a real go at CCFC. I remember when Alex Ferguson was getting less through the gate than season ticket holders and they were calling for his head.

I am just fed up of looking down, expecting little and getting less at some point someone will rise to the challenge and it will improve. It can't go on.

I agree that this club could easily massively improve but I'm afraid I feel that needs to involve a change of ownership at the least and quite possibly a change of manager too. Afraid I can't really agree with the rest though the downward spiral can go on and crowds can and will continue to fall unless something changes. Would love you to be right though.

A bit of width ( a lot more than we have now in fact), More forward passes from the midfield and defence. Players given a little more licence to get forward and gamble on scoring. And get JOB to hold his shape in the team more. Playing people in their correct positions.
That would be a good start for me.

100% yes - also stop thus fiddling around in our first third as in passing backwards and sidewards making virtually nil progress going forward - and also can we not have some speculative shots at goal like much of our opposition.

Surely he has the constraint of losing his best players, time and time again? He's not been in position that long, and lost McGoldrick, but effectively blooded Wilson as replacement. But we've now lost Wilson too; plus Clarke, Moussa, Baker, Murphy and Christie. These aren't just players we lost; they're our best players by some considerable margin. Those six players are head and shoulders above anything we currently have. All would walk straight into the starting line up for the next game.

Waggott stated all the Wilson money would be reinvented, and we'd pay a fee should Pressley need it. Have we? Really? Why is Pressley saying he has no funds then?

The more I think about it, the more I believe that SP will be sacked at the end of the season, and not a moment before. That idea is fueled by the number of out of contract players at the end of the season, almost like the club is getting ready for the next bloke to come in with the freedom choose a dozen fresh faces. Sure but my post was in response to the comment that a new manager would basically be in a no lose position because if you fail thats expected, I don't think thats true as we can see from how the majority feel about Pressley failing.



Our views on the resources available to Pressley are just very very different. Many people seem to feel that since most signings in this league are free signings that suggests an equivalence I do not, many people seem to feel that because other clubs have quite a few loans that suggests an equivalence I do not.

He doesn't play his best players. Webster seems to be the first name in the team. Making wrong subs. Playing defensively when behind. Tries to defend a lead instead of pushing for more goals when we are on top. Keeps bringing in strikers when we need attacking midfielders....although he doesn't seem to like us to attack.

How is that for starters? He has been backed by SISU by being able to bring players in. Have lost count now. He is either crap at choosing players, crap at playing them in their best positions, crap at choosing the right formation oreeven all of these. Then he tries to tell us we are playing well when some games we don't even have shots on target. Maybe his way of setting up a team works in Scotland. It doesn't work in Division 3. I said pre season that it looked like we were going to have a long hard season. We had the wrong type of players. And I have seennnothing since to make me change my mind in the slightest.

So what you are saying is last seasons team were what 30 to 40 points better than this seasons?

I've got to agree with that, apart from McGoldrick who was lost in Robins' tenure. It's part of the reason why I've always been sympathetic to Pressley. He lost what 50 goals in the summer (regardless of the reasons). Any manager would struggle against the backdrop as well as the myriad other problems.

Plenty on here gleefully told of the bets they made on is being relegated this season, is it really a surprise we're now struggling?

As much as I dislike SISU , as far as I am aware none of them are on the playing or coaching staff. Neither do any of them Batter people on the field that is down to the playing side of the club.

SISU are there to organise the running of the club off the field and SP and his team determine who plays, where and what tactics are deployed.

I can't comment on the performances having only been listening on CWR but reading all these posts there are few who will defend the current regime either on or off the pitch.






SISU employ the playing and coaching staff so yes its they're fault end of
If the club fix the on field issues then that would relive a lot of pressure on them. A winning team is what is needed.

Considering how high a turnover of players he has racked up in his time in charge it seemed inevitable that the odd one would turn out alright. Saying that even Wilson lagged towards the end of the season and is now leading Bournemouth (yes Bournemouth) to possible promotion. Pressley seems to make his own players perform worse, which is a unique talent that reflects poor man management on top of poor tactical nous.

I feel like getting the bunting out to commemorate a thread upon which we agree.

I also remember folk on here talking about the 'good business' of selling Wilson to bring in Tudgay and Jackson. Or what an 'average League One' Baker was, and how he wouldn't be missed.

Many of those same posters now shamelessly laying all the blame at Pressley's door; and seemingly forgetting the last year's 'good business' by Waggott...

IMHO, SISU's plan is to tread water, cut costs to the bone, sign freebies and loan players (on short term contracts) and gamble with possible relegation, whilst they exhaust all legal avenues, using the money from Wilson's sale and the Arsenal cup run.

Two options:

Throw endless amounts of money at the club in the hope that they get promoted. However there is no guarantee of that, and as such we could easily be in the position of owing someone a shit load of money.... given what we have seen with the Sky TV deal this week.. the dream of Premier League and real financial reward is becoming infinitely more difficult by the season for most clubs.

Try and build some kind of model where the club operates within it's means. If any kind of forward progress is to be achieved in this model then it would require more revenue.. with the most obvious way to do this in owning it's own ground.

They are the two choices that SISU are faced with.. this would also be exactly the same for any potential new owner. So whether SISU stay or go, the path that we follow in the next few years is going to be pretty similar.

Not withstanding any data analysis re £'s spent on playring staff CCFC to all/most other L1 clubs, or loans to "hired" staff ratios, which I suspect would establish in part my argument, would you not agree that the well versed unstable nature of the clubs management strategy at board level destabilises the whole culture within the club, and thus must have an unwelcome influence on both Mr Pressley, the staff and all that he hoped to achieve; case in point being the continual challenge through the courts, which our owners continually pursue and lose in equal measure?

Equal playing field v all other L1 clubs... really?
