Come on Simms, it’s your time to shine and take the bull by the horns and make the position your own.

After a period of Bassette not hitting the net all you’ve gotta do is score and you keep your place.

It’s hard to watch someone score so many goals last season go through such a dry patch.

He's had long dry patches for most of his career here, he didn't score until the end of September in his first season and then didn't score again for months. Scored in just one of his first 24 appearances for the club.

As poor as they are, a draw would be an ok result away from home in these conditions. I just want to see some signs of improvement.

Would like to see some tactical flexibility here. Not convinced by Saka away from home and if he's not playing then there are too many square pegs in the formation.

Careful, any posts asking for our Elite Tactician to show his tactical prowess get jumped on.

I mean, it’s an entirely unfair ask after all.

Simms is back!
.
Hope Simms is really up for this and shows some promise and threat.
Needs someone to thread passes into channels for him. Maybe Torp can step up...
A clean sheet would be a real positive as well.
So not only will we have to watch a lack of creativity in midfield, no suply from Sakamoto, and backwards, backwards, sideways passing, we've now lost the only movement and pace we had upfront!

Oh such joy!

I just hope Frank has put a rocket up one or two arses and can get a performance out of us.

I'm usually very optimistic. And I hope I'm wrong, but this looks like another boring 0-0 to me.

Think it would be good for Simms if he's been told he's going to get a run of games rather than going out thinking he's got 60 minutes to impress before he's subbed off.

He had to earn the run of games

Why would he be told that? He's no right to it the way he's performed and needs to play his way back in.
It's not an uncommon thing to do in professional sport. The theory being players respond differently if they know they aren't getting dropped after one game.

Last season simms played most games. He only scored in one of his first 20 odd games. If he wants to start he has to show he wants it

After the terrible performance against Millwall, we need a good performance today. More than 1 shot on target would be an improvement.

Big Simms fan.

Hope he has a great game goal - and a goal would be even better - and starts a little run.

Bassette is best as an impact sub at this point, for all his pointing and running, his impact isn’t there yet. And that’s fine, he’s young and this is the most competitive league he’s played in. He’ll be a star no doubt.
