Not good though in the slightest the way the game went

Sheaf and BTA terrible.
Dovin a couple of good saves.
Saka woke up for a bit.
Simms a good spell

Overall. We needed to go in for the kill sooner, when we had 2 strikers we should have been putting the ball in the box.

Dovin saved us a point late on because his teammates up front were useless. No idea why we went 4-2-4, it looked like madness.

Dovin 8, goal wasn't his fault and saved our skin late on

Bidwell 6, not his best but a massive upgrade on DaSilva

Lati 5, sloppy at times

Thomas 4, poor today, too slow on the ball, think someone needs to tell him he's not Baresi, needs to progress the ball quicker

MVE 5, lot of running but nothing really achieved, must be knackered though has zero backup ior competition in our 'elite deck'

Eccles 4, as poor as I've seen him first half

Sheaf 4, so sloppy and risky near our box. Needs dropping but for who?

Torp 4, again didn't offer much

Rudoni 6, played out of position, did ok but prefer him in the middle

Tats 7, extra couple of points for the second half, again looks like he could do with a rest or someone on his heels as competition

Simms 7, would have given him more but he did fade a bit. For 60 mins he held everything up, worked his target role well. Won nearly every ball played to him and tried to play other in. Looked a thankless task. Good power and running for goal. If others had been at his level I think we would have been really praising that effort. Needs a good run now

Subs:

Norm 5 didn't offer much

BTA 4 bad miss. Struggling to see where he gets the minutes needed to sharpen up. Odd signing

Rapha 11 got on the pitch, hallelujah 🙏

Dovin, Simms and Bidwell were decent overall. The rest, a bit of a mess unfortunately.

We can't keep just turning up for one half. It's getting ridiculous now.

Ponderous garbage. The midfield movement is shocking. None of the midfielders are making themselves available so you end up with endless passing across the back which it would appear we don't have the basic skills for. We're a tough watch.

Dovin 7
MVE 1. And that's generous. What has happened to him?
Thomas 3. Passing was shocking.
Lati 5
Bidwell 6
Sheaf 2
Eccles 4
Torp 5
Sakamoto 6
Rudoni 5
Simms 7

We might have numbers but it's totally out of balance. We lack creativity, a spark player like O'Hare or to a lesser extent Palmer. Also we have no cover for Sheaf so can drop him or rest him..

It was a quote from King, should have put it in quotation marks!
But youre probably right, we have numbers, just not the balance.

Bobby Thomas had a nightmare today. Passing was woeful as well as defending.

Observation, players are seeming reluctance to pass to BTA.

First half was really bad. Fantastic opportunity to win as dominated 2nd half and new ref gave us everything. Dovin pulled off a great save to avoid an embarrassing loss.

Cardiff keeper was fantastic. A fair result overall even though we were all over Cardiff in second half.

Anyone who thinks this is a top 6 side is going to be massively disappointed.

This side got a club legend sacked and will tank Lampard’s career if he lets them.

I always found Eccles and Sheaf together uninspiring even though I thought they were both decent players. Even the latter isn't true atm.

This is ridiculous. I’ve been puzzled by MVE and his decline but he did ok and to suggest simms was 7 times better is insane

Well…I think it’s fair to say that was a game of 2 halves.

I can see BTA getting some shit, presumably for the ‘miss’. I’d have to see it again. My initial thought was that it was just too high for him. In which case what you gonna do? Other than that I thought he actually looked quite good.
Simms getting a lot plaudits and I’m not really too sure what he did. He was alright 2nd half.

Every player (except Dovin) should be embarrassed about that first half performance. Atrocious. Possibly the worst of the year…special mention to Thomas for ‘jumping in’ which allowed the cross for their goal (school boy stuff) and regularly passing to their players…but he wasn’t the only one.
Those crosses/balls into the box that Sheaf kept doing 😬😬.

Anyway, it was an exciting game and I’d have taken a point before hand.

Nice not to be the people having to travel along the M4/M5 for once!
