Dovin 6

Couple of good saves. That’s the positive.
It’s the Xmas season and like JC he’s afraid of crosses and his distribution is far too sloppy, slow and telegraphed. Ben Wilson had a mistake in him but he’s vocal and on his toes. Wilson is the no. 1 at this club. Dovin might be one for the future but some of his play today was awful

MVE 5

I bet you can track his performance levels dependent on who is in goal. Simply put, he’s fast and if the distribution from GK on the counter is sharp then he’s dynamite. When not on the break, he has to check back.

Bidwell 6

Ok. But he has the Cov arm twitch right now. Gets the ball, knows it needs to go forward, bottles it, passes back and then instructs the recipient to pass forward by pointing forward.

Thomas 5

Some defenders have a footballing brain that enables them to spot danger. Bobby Thomas is no such player. He too has the Cov arm twitch.

Lati 5

Often caught wrong side, if Cardiff were any good then he’d have been responsible for twice letting his man get through.

Eccles 4

His pass cost us their goal. But he too has the Cov arm twitch right now. Gets the ball, knows it needs to go forward, bottles it, passes back and then instructs the recipient to pass forward by pointing forward.

Sheaf 3

Truly awful. It’s late in the game against 10 man team who can’t win at home. Slows it down and just does sideways and backward passes. Conspiracy alert: someone has shown him a stat that he has one of the best successful pass completion stats in the league and some agents bandy that around. To keep that stat up he just passes negatively. He is the epitome of the Cov arm twitch right now. Gets the ball, knows it needs to go forward, bottles it, passes back and then instructs the recipient to pass forward by pointing forward. Can’t tackle for chips. Shite.

Torp 4

Cov arm Twitch but is Danish. Useless.

Rudoni 5

Wasted wide right. Needs to play CM next to a proper bloke who can tackle.

Tats 7

Plus 1 for his 10 min mid match cameo. Get the ball in quicker - we’ve got a target man today - anything could happen.

Sims 6

Glimpses of who he really is. Someone show him a video of last year to remind him that he can actually play.

Subs

All 5 but shout out to BTA who was totally clueless.

I can see BTA getting some shit, presumably for the ‘miss’. I’d have to see it again. My initial thought was that it was just too high for him. In which case what you gonna do? Other than that I thought he actually looked quite good.
Yeah, for BTA's miss the ball popped up high and a bit behind him from the keeper's save. Not the sitter that people are saying.

Thomas went into the right back position for their goal because MVE was about 30 yards up the pitch jogging back.
Likewise Rudoni too slow going back to cover.
We are just so slow and lacking urgency.

That’s exactly what I thought. He didn’t do anything wrong other than the ‘miss’.
Did a nice flick for Bassette, held it up and passed off nicely, won a clever freekick, tracked back well etc.
I’ve criticised him before but not today! I’m sure he’ll be pleased to hear.

Thomas's passing was shocking, but can't believe some of the defensive criticism on here, he was solid there as usual and Lati was decent but for two awful moments of concentration that could've cost us. Simms is the one I'm struggling with, I'd love him to score but his whole demeanour just says nothing coming any time soon.

All a bit meh really and for once I don't think the red card helped as they were sitting too deep and even then we nearly cooked it up.

It’s another car crash of a game .
First attack they score !!!
Dovin saved us from massive embarrassment , when 10 men , had the best chance of the second half !
Far too slow to build an attack ….. naivety or game plan ? 3
Milan , had a chance first half , running against 1 player , but somehow bottled it .
Another below par performance . 3
Bidwell , is he our only defender that defends ? 5
Lats , there is a player in there , but I think he’s being dragged down by this lot …
5
Thomas , absolutely shocking again , can’t pass to save his life , & an awful display . League 1 at best …. 2
Eccles , you never know now , what Josh Eccles is turning up & another poor game, along with THAT pass !!!!!
3.5
Sheaf , ……does anyone know where the real Ben Sheaf has gone ? A chance to learn off Frank , but he is getting worse ….. 2
Torp , what useless wastage of corners , when they are down to 10 men & no variety , shite ….another enigma & how do you sign players of the same ilk .. ……2
Saka , yes scored & did some trickery , but another first half , when you didn’t know he was on the park …..4
Rudoni , out of position again , when we are limited to a monopoly on wingers !
Odd bits in the game he was ok , but they are all too similar ….. 3
Simms ….. brief & only too brief showings of last seasons player , but thankfully opened them up for the equaliser …… 5
Subs
BTA …… got to be one of the worst signings in our poor history 0
The rest , still learning the art of passing backwards. , from attacking positions …..1

We don't need another midfielder!

We at least need a play maker from the back because it certainly isn't Sheaf. He might be a great DM but he hasn't a clue how to find pockets of space and move us forward.

It's the same with Binks. He often got dragged out of the centre by DaSilva's piss poor marking and positional play. We have been vulnerable down both flanks all season; which has put the CB's under repeated pressure.

Most of our goals conceded has come from crosses coming in too easily from the flanks.

honestly must’ve been watching different games. Bidwell was one of our only progressive outlets who looked to quickly move the ball forward even if that was only a simple pass up the line to rudoni. 6 passes into the final third versus 3 for MVE and 4 for Sheaf for example

The same against Millwall he did more progressive passing to play in Rudoni and Bassette down the left flank, than Sheaf who was just stodge and misplaced passes in the centre.

Why does he have to be right out there trying to tackle there winger though?. Where was Van Ewijk and Sakamoto for instance?

I am not saying he couldn't do better but let's not give others a free pass. When the ball comes in Sheaf and Rudoni are hardly covered in glory either. Half the team were culpable for the Cardiff goal. Okay Eccles pass was sloppy, but it was so high up the pitch, the majority of the team were behind the ball. The defending as a team was shocking. It was under 7's football and that's an insult to under 7's.

No, I didnt, it was right in front of me. He was trying to cover RB! Ffs yep let's blame him for a bad Eccles ball, Milan being miles away and nobody defending the header across in the middle that he probably would have made, had he not been dragged out to help.

No im blaming him for letting his man run half the pitch then a terrible attempt at a tackle that gave him a free cross.

Dovin - 7 got us a point at the end

MVE - 3 ball watching, out of position too many times, passing was painful to watch

Thomas - 5 such a frustrating player, I believe there's a very good player there but he's got to cut out silly mistakes. Feels like he's not in control of his legs when the ball is at his feet

Lati - 5 takes too long on the ball and didn't try and find the midfield enough 1st half. 2nd half was slow moving the ball

Bidwell - 6 our best defender today and recently

Eccles - 5 very poor 1st half, improved 2nd half but has been below his standards for 2 months now (apart from Plymouth home game)

Sheaf - 3 very frustrating, passing was poor, attitude not what I expect. 10 vs 11 you'd expect a player of his capability to be everywhere in the middle....he was like a pedestrian. Needs to be dropped after that showing

Torp - 4 looked lost in his role, offered little

Rudoni - 4 needs to focus more, drifted in and out of the game and expected more creativity when vs 10 men

Saka - 7 extra point for goal, looked our biggest threat 2nd half. 1st half meh

Simms - 6 worked hard, lacks match sharpness imo. Better than Bassette in leading the line. Needs someone closer to him if we're playing 433

Subs:
Bassette - 5
BTA - 4
Raphael - n/a

Latibeaudière - 5

Sheaf - 4

Rudoni - 6

Simms - 6.5

Overall, given where we are with the recruitment and the morale and Robins gone and so on, I feared worse than the performance we got. Should be better but there it is. A point away from home.

I hesitated over giving Rudoni 7 but actually I was probably thinking of the Millwall match where he dribbled about in tight spaces and looked really lively. Simms nearly got 7 but he still needs to be doing more for me.
