You mean I am not allowed an opinion as it differs to yours. If you like I'll dig up a few threads about him from the last 3 am seasons and see who viewed him as a legend then. For 75% of his career at this club his performances have been sub standard. Not a status for a "legend". Sorry to disappoint.

Keith houchen???? And don't tell me he's not a club legend.

If he ends up lifting 2 trophies this season then he probably will go down in our history as a legend...far more worthy than some I've seen given that label over the last few years. Of course you're entitled to your opinion Duffy but can't you at least give a little credit to someone who's turned his City career around in such a fantastic way and done it with so much dignity? You seem to find it a lot easier to look for the negatives when for the 1st time in years the majority can finally see the positives. I'm sure you'll come back with your usual clever reply but I just think for once if you didn't have anything positive to say you should've said nothing at all. Just my opinion though....

And baker could do similar. Ok the JPT is not the fa but relative to our point in history.

Oh god, my fault for biting I guess. Never said you weren't allowed an opinion, don't care if it differs from mine, that's the beauty of opinions, you see. I know all about his previous playing history. I don't personally consider him 'legendary' either, we agree, but some people do, an opinion Peter Billing Eyes had, and shared with us until 'the authority' Grendel swooped in, and tried to correct. A whole page of text and opinion and you chose that to point out... back to your hole...

To be honest I am not even that negative about him. I suppose bring of a certain age I can remember many right midfield players of real quality and the thought of baker being compared I find difficult to comprehend.

Also of we get promoted I would hope we find he is squad status rather than first team regular. Championship is beyond him.

All diluted by our "legends" day anyhow. Ex players yes, but even in the loosest sense of the word, legends many fall a long way short

Emotional outburst.

And we have a manager who [...] talks sense, knows when not to say anything...

Quite apart from his current and previous successes, what marks out robins as destined for greater things is his media and man-management savvy. Great example in his interview for SB Player today when, in response to what was required from the first leg, he was very careful not to say "a good winning margin to take to Crewe" despite it being the obvious reply. I also admire the way he tends to use criticism only to achieve positive results (e.g. Clarke, Christie), rather than as a defensive tool. Man Utd 2018, anyone?

Agree with the sentiments here on Baker, also: a guy you would only wish the best for.

Brilliant gesture from Baker. And as for the poor guy, I'd happily contribute to get him a Wembley ticket if he/we can make it. Though I'm sure this forum could probably chip in a few quid and get him a season ticket. Wish him all the best.

Tbf Grendal is right in as much as he's not a playing legend yet - lets get a good win tomorrow and do something special before we give him that tag.
As a person though, he seems to be an outstanding individual, especially in comparison to some footballers these days.

I agree, not a legend in playing terms, but a top genuine pro who does so much out of football. Not big headed,a very likeable scallywag.

We could all chip in for the young lad a wembley ticket?

I'm sure if we did get here we could raise enough for ticket & hotel, etc. maybe some sort of hospitality package which may shield him from the elements a little more.

Trying to think of a new Carl Baker song?

Why not just belt out the saxophone solo from the song 'Baker Street'

Bonus points for someone with an actual saxophone.
