Don't get this. He played 45 games last season for a team who won promotion. Why would he then join us on a reduced wage to be considered nothing more than a squad player ?

We've just signed Vincenti, we've currently got Jodi Jones on the books, and Thomas could still potentially sign. Puzzles me why you think he wouldn't take a cut when he's potentially got up to 3 players already in front of him?

the cut bit yes, but surely one of the main reasons he would take a cut is because he wants to continue playing, and after 45 apperances in a promotion winning side, that would seem fair enough that he could hold down a place in our team.

He would certainly be ahead of jones, who, when you look at the thread on our team next year, not one person has put him in our starting 11, and that's without a full squad, Thomas, who knows if he will stay, or what formation we are likely to play next year. Vincenti only played 16 games last year due to injury, and some of those were at CM.

It'd be a culmination of factors in and out of football why he'd be willing to take a cut. I think Baker in an excellent player and looks after himself well considering he's 34 turning 35. He could definitely hold down a starting place in a League Two team, I'm not denying that, I'm simply saying it wouldn't be at CCFC.

You've got to remember that whilst our budget is more than acceptable for League 2, it still needs to be stretched. There's little room to be bringing in multiple first team players that can all fill the same position, simply due to the fact that there's still a number of positions left to fill.

I'd agree with most in saying that Jones is a few seasons off from being considered as a shoe in, in the starting XI. But would you genuinely want to cast him out for a 34/35 year old that may or may not play second fiddle? Personally I'd rather work on Jones' game by giving him the opportunity to come off the bench week in week out?

Vincenti can play a number of positions and is likely to be used this season as a tactical player this season. One that fills the positions in the event of injuries. However, judging from where he's played predominantly over the last few seasons, he's mainly been used on the RW. It could be dependent on what formation Robins plays like you said. Which would suggest Baker could hold a place in the starting XI. I suppose time will tell. But at the moment I just can't see there being the opportunity for Baker to get the same game time as he did at Portsmouth.

I'd say he would have Kelly at CM.

i'm with you. Just as I have said in previous threads about Turnbull, Haynes and Stevenson

Not particularly bothered by Turnbull, I personally don't think he has the best attitude. Would love Haynes and Stevenson to stay though. I think both really make a big impact in League 2.

He's also coming to the end of his career. Does he really have a leg to stand on when asking for a high wage?
I'd be hoping he has more than one leg to stand on but if that's how low we've dropped then so be it. A few monopeds would be an improvement in a number of positions compared to last season...

Haynes didn't have much of an impact on L2 when he was on loan at Cambridge...

Why because a company has sponsored a player for the upcoming season?

I do wonder why they've used last seasons pic instead of producing a new one?

No because there's nothing to say he's leaving!

I linked plumbing and Baker together in that striker rumour thread. Is it possible have magical powers of foresight? Almost definitely yes.

Lol this aint going away - TBF we are crying out for a CAM / no.10 and he could play there. He did play centrally for Stockport and scored loads of goals, i think I recall him saying that he prefers to play there. I'd be chuffed if he came back, but equally I'd be excited if MR signed any no. 10 with the same ilk and promise of his current signings.

Without any no.10s in the squad I can't see MR deploying his favoured 4-2-3-1. He did say he would play to the players strengths at the forum. looking more like Nicks hybrid 4-4-2 in his fifa post.

I don't know how much of that article is fabricated but I still believe he'll come back, and he'll be the final signing we confirm.

You don't have to be a Pulitzer winner to know he would come back if offered. Still lives up here, his kids and Mrs seem settled here and he's got another kid on the way.

Jeez! We are going to get spanked every week if we only have 6 on the pitch!

Honestly a right load of bollox by Telegraph-led by Bakers agent to force a move.

We don't need Baker.

Passed it and definitely NOT the future of Skyblues.

I honestly don't understand the fervour devoted to this man.
