i think this is what WASPs have wanted all along, knew would trigger it now they can ask them in private to pay towards a new pitch as the commonwealth games caused it….
They are at home to Castleford on Friday eveningPl
Huddersfield giants have a home game next Saturday k/o 12.00
Spot on, this is the flaw when people say Buddy and the club should have known the 7s would do this much damage, similar events have been held elsewhere without any issue with future events taking place. The problem is that the pitch was already old and tired, Wasps then agreed to multiple events over the summer which meant there was only something like 20 days to prepare for the CWG. And as you saw as soon as anyone set foot on it the pitch rapidly deteriorated.I'm a massive rugby fan (hope I'm welcome here). In my opinion, any blame Wasps put on the commonwealth games causing a bad pitch will be just a poor excuse. I watched day one of the sevens and the pitch was already terrible. The sevens provided a catalyst and certainly didn't help, but it was cutting up very badly on day one. Every step taken by the players, a chunk of grass flew up in the air behind. Without the 7s, the pitch would've been ready for a couple of football games but would've deteriorated pretty quickly and been in a similar state now.
Playing 66 sevens games (or whatever the number was) isn't unheard of at all. For example, Twickenham used to host the World Sevens Series (men and womens) (9am - 6pm Saturday and Sunday) the weekend before the Gallagher Premiership final. The pitch was always immaculate for the final. CBS isn't exactly Twickenham, but it's absolutely possible to sort it out.
Goodness me. Sooner they dissapear somewhere else or go bust the better. Going to be a rough couple of season though for us I fearHad a look on the Wasps forums to see what their thoughts were. Delusional doesn't even begin to describe it.
Some highlights include the EFL having a vendetta against Wasps, the independent agronomist not actually being independent, we should give not loan Wasps 500K for a new pitch, we are being unreasonable complaining about the pitch, we should cover the cost of any damage that occurs when Wasps play, the pitch report doesn't actually exist as it hasn't been released publicly, this is an indication that Wasps are financially sound and finally any complaints from our fans are just down to confirmation bias.

With the pitch relay it seems like the issue was that no-one would do it because they feared they wouldn't be paid. It wouldn't make sense for wasps to not do it and end up with an unplayable surface for their tenants because all that's going to do long term is reduce your income because they're not playing there.Spot on, this is the flaw when people say Buddy and the club should have known the 7s would do this much damage, similar events have been held elsewhere without any issue with future events taking place. The original plan was to replace the pitch after the CWG. Now that we've all spent the last couple of weeks becoming pitch experts it seems that is possible but its a more expensive option, in the region of £500K. The pitch is grown elsewhere and then dropped in, lay and play I believe Dave Boddy called it. Going down that route you can have a game a matter of days after the new pitch is installed. The speculation is this didn't happen because Wasps are broke. Boddy claims the club offered to help facilitate this but we don't know the details and it would almost certainly be something the club would expect to be paid back in one form or another, not entirely unreasonable given we already pay rent.
Going forward it seems it may be possible to patch it up for a few games but the problems are then likely to return in the winter when the bad weather kicks in so realistically it would appear a new pitch is needed ASAP but that is something Wasps are not willing or able to facilitate.
The big question now is where we go from here, and playing somewhere else this season seems an increasingly likely option but of course that relies on being able to find somewhere to play and leaves the club with a big financial hole as the budget will have been prepared based on being at the CBS.
Andy Goode’s constant lecturing to CCFC fans about how good Wasps are has gone very quiet recently
It's only 1 or 2 games and they don't have scrums which are what can really fuck a pitch but it does rely on the pitch being sorted before handRemember the rugby league World Cup is due to be played at the CBS on the 21st and 22nd October….

So where do we go from here? Anyone got Overson's number?
Is he on here?
The email address for Steve Hughes CBS CEO is: steve.hughes@thecoventry.co.ukI think the CBS are our best hope . Loads of negative publicity at the minute . contribution towards a new pitch would be a really good marketing move . The numbers being discussed are roundings for them, but would be a lot of good publicity versus the negatives currently attached to their brand

I thought Grendal was Overson?
I don’t think there will be anyway around it , I think it will be damage limitation from the CWG and the West Midland authority that arranged the gamesI dont think any funding from the WMCA should be given to wasps for a pitch. Surely the grants are designed to help with projects that improve peoples lives not help badly run businesses stay afloat. How does the funding of a pitch in Coventry help the public in Walsall for instance? If the money is granted it should be in the form of a loan that they have to pay back, Wasps have had too easier a ride in the city from authorities as it is.

I personally don’t care where it comes from as long as we get a new pitch ,quickly and we remain in the city and all our fans can get back watching us play
So you want us to roll over and kiss the arse of Wasps by spunking money for a pitch that we wont own or have any say in other events on it including rugby that will destroy it for football and pay them the full rent as a bonusIf it really means that much to the club to be in Coventry, why do I feel like they won’t take some responsibility, sort the pitch and carry on? I get that Wasps aren’t fulfilling obligations and why should we step in and sort it out? But we seem more focused on digging our heels into them and just not getting the problem sorted. Fans, players and Robins just want it sorted but with DB it’s just ‘they won’t sort it’, ‘we’ve offered to help but they’re not interested’.
Worried that the club will make the wrong decision and seek alternative venues instead of growing some and just sorting the fucker out.
Why do people assume it's as simple as ccfc just ringing somebody up and getting a new pitch laid?
That they have been paid to provide? It’s not even that. It’s the idea I’ve got in my head of City just poking a piss poor unwilling company with a stick to sort the most basic and important feature of a ground. Just fed up and desperate and warm.
