It's simple, both ain't good enough.

All the waffle is just BS
I think Luke Bell will be elevated to second choice keeper in a year or so.

Collins was fine last season, in fact he was a definite upgrade on Wilson when he broke into the team and we went on that good run. Like just about everybody, his form went to shit after the FA cup semi and then he appeared to be ostracised by Robins over the summer.
Collins was not fine last season.
In the last 10 games he was as he has been this season and let in some really poor goals, with some inexplicable goalkeeping.
Southampton/Hull/Ipswich to name but a few
If anything, I'd say his form where he wasn't throwing balls in/ghost-keeping was more of an anomaly.
He just doesn't look/carry himself like a solid/decent keeper should/does.

I want every player that pulls on a city shirt to do well, for them, their family, the club and the fans.

Collins is spent and him coming back into the side will affect the team and continue to affect him.

If we want to progress, look at top six, Collins is not our man I'm afraid.

And this is not to say I'm an advocate of Wilson either.

I agree with Tom in thinking that dropping him all of a sudden for the Stoke game led to the collapse in form when he returned. Collins did get to the top 6 with Barnsley in this league though, clearly he can be a decent keeper.

Highest save percentage in the league last season.
2nd most save per 90

Who's going in goal then?

Our keeper is injured, we're a non parachute Championship team. We're lucky to have 1 Dovin standard goalkeeper, there's really not much we can do.
I'm not happy about it and it probably affects our top 6 aspirations, but its football, it happens.

It's mainly the third goal here that's the reason I no longer have the slightest confidence in Collins. Yes, the initial mistake is Thomas', but Collins bottles this. It looks for all the world like he's afraid to challenge and get hurt. Maybe this is unfair, but that's what it looks like.

First one is comical, but they happen, and you can forgive them.

You are not being unfair. This is his main problem. He IS afraid of a challenge and won’t put himself in a position where it might happen.
This in turn puts his defenders in two minds as to what to do. Then confusion reigns.
And the last thing our defence needs is more hesitation.
Add all that to the fact he is next to useless at stopping shots, palms anything hit at him straight back into the danger zone and stands shaking on his line if a cross comes in makes the bloke next to useless.
I hope to god he somehow comes good for the run in, but I don’t hold out much hope.

So you are trying to say that he was one of the best keepers in the league?

I’m saying his numbers were good last season. Up there with the best in the league.

For a good chunk of the season, Dec-March the data tells you he was the best keeper in the league.

I admit when he’s bad, it can spiral.

You need massive data pools for keepers. Not just season here or half a season there.

Gunn and Woodman are two of the worst performing keepers this season, and I rate them both. Pears is having an excellent season, I’m not a fan

I am absolutely with you in this one!!! (Above!)
Having a bit of experience in the area, my eyes tell me a decent story.
You are right about stats - totally agree...
Was going to bring out the fact that Reice Charles-Cook holds the club record for consecutive clean sheets - 5 - absolutely terrible goalkeeper!

Wonder how we can get him performing back to his best. Weird this exact scenario has happened twice over the recent years with Simon Moores spiral in form as well
Simon Moore actually tried to catch the ball on crosses too, for me a vital component for a goalkeeper to take control and pressure off the defence, Collins is like dracula...scared of crosses

Cov are 5th worst for crosses stoped by the goalkeeper,by percentage. Dovin, Wilson and Collins combined. 3.3%

Leeds (surprisingly), Sheffield United and Derby the top 3 (Mellier, Copper, Zetterstrom) all >8.5%

Not sure what the constant Collins vitriol achieves tbh. I'd get the frustration if Lampard dropped him and you had Dovin sat on the bench, but its not the case, our arm has been forced because of that shithouse Blunt c**t. May as well get used to it and support the bloke.

Dovin doesn't come for many crosses too, thats why I named Moore and Wilson drops the feckin thing if he does come for one

I think everyone will support Collins today, and get behind the guy, but for me, Collins is a keeper who thrives on confidence, if he has a good few early touches he'll be fine, but once he makes an error he looks shot to pieces.

Burnley dont conceed goals, but they don't pose any great threat upfront either, so as long as there's no howlers today, I can see him keeping a clean sheet.

1-0 City.

I am more of a Wilson fan but I think Collins is technically could be a better player but his confidence has just ebbed away when he bottled it last year and no sign of better judgement or confidence this year when he has had chance and therefore for me, not playable.
I understand why he was chosen today, played this season, Wilson long injury.
neither are good enough at this level with this defence But Lamps has to back one now and for me, that would be Wilson, clowns around, gives the team spirit and maybe is the lift the team needs, Collins looks scared of his shadow, second half save hit him rather than him saving it.

fingers crossed they are not needed much in the forthcoming games but I fear Plymouth and Luton more than Boro and Albion

Ooops. 2 howlers, 2 goals conceded.
