I guess when you're missing 3 of the remaining 5, you've got nothing to lose by appealing

Yeah, true.

Not going to be successful is it. Nowt there in his favour at all.

Not only did he crash into him, he also lent into the player with his boot raised

I'm not sure. Looks like he just puts his weight (upper leg/backside) into the player to me. He's not actually made much contact with his boot/studs etc. Can see why the ref thought that though.

Was never going to overturned. Is there a financial penalty for appealing? I presume there must be otherwise everyone would appeal every red.

Yeah, I am not surprised to be honest and I think part of it is the force with which he uses to clatter into the Bristol player.
