that it's deadline day giving us very little time to properly organise replacements
Our owners, unfortunately, have done this for as long as I can remember, selling late on with no incomings.

With a 19 year old, left footed, quick attacking player you're paying for potential rather than the current product and when he's demonstrated the abilty and willingness to improve over the last 6 months, when someone has been prepared to invest the time in him, I don't think 1.5 million is that hardball. Especially if you consider the ridiculous current market conditions starting to trickle down to lower leagues, that he's our only player with any real pace and that it's deadline day giving us very little time to properly organise replacements.

JJ has improved, but I don't think he is worth that amount.

Yes he has scored three goals and looked a threat, but he goes missing in games to reguarly, easily read by opponents (way to often) and shows a willingness to cut inside to much instead of mixing it up.

His pace is an asset of course and the market is mad, but I would be shocked if Oxford or anyone bid £1.5m for Jones.

With yougsters its called Petty Jelousy, they can't help themselves from being effected

They are footballers though. They will have seen teammates being rejected contracts or moving since they were kids.

If they are going to cry and throw tantrums if there is interest in teammates and not them they either need to up their game or man up.

No point selling Jones unless we have a replacement already lined up. Who happens to be just as fast as him. Other wise we lose a massive amount of our attacking threat

If Jones goes, I might actually win my bet with Hill...

In all seriousness though, we shouldn't sell him.

Today could be interesting, but hopefully not disappointing.

Selling Jones today would be absolute suicide no matter the fee. There is no way we're getting a suitable replacement on deadline day and he's the only bit of pace and attacking flair in the team.

Jones isn't going. Can we move on to something more interesting. Who's parked up at Ryton?

I'm on my break shortly, shall I go and have a look, I'm about a stones throw away ;)

Nope. The amount of games played was also stipulated. I'm not completely mental.

At 1.5m I'd be tempted if MR could use even half that to reinvest.
However it's very late in the day to be finding a suitable player with similar attributes as JJ as he's the only real pace in the side and we're lacking natural wide players already.

But what about the petty jealousy from the youngsters, that can't help themselves from being effected?

Rumours circulating that Baker and the other Portsmouth guy are coming and Jones sale will help fund the wage gap with baker.

Portsmouth would still have to pay some of his wages while here so Christ knows what he's on

Since the start it has been that Baker lives local, Baker is having a kid so wants to be close to his family, he doesn't want to go so far and be away from his kids. Now there's rumours of us having to try and fill a wage gap for him? If he's that desperate to be near home he should surely take a pay cut, unless he has some shocking photos of Fisher or something.

Am I the only one who thinks that selling our best player to acquire a 35-year old who was never consistently good for us first time round, isn't the best deal we've ever done?

My theory, based on what Baker has said, is he takes a payoff from Pompey as he has a contract with a year to run. He can then afford to come here on a lower wage. If Pompey won't give him a payoff he either sits out the contract or goes somewhere who can pay him a full wage.

Its all well and good wanting to be close to Cov but at his age this could be his last contract, needs to make sure he gets as much as possible.

Im not wasting my time thinking about it because it is not going to happen

Surely you deciding that it's not going to happen involves "wasting" time thinking about it..by definition you must have thought about it to come to that conclusion, then thought about it again when deciding on your reply and typing it out
