Odd they don't mention other record low crowds for many of the other teams.

Bradford got 1,360, their last home game was 15,935 and one before was 18,205.

I think it says more about the competition
Exactly.
They're up top end of the table with 18thousand plus season ticket holders, this comp is completely shit.
Bet they'd bring 30,000 Fans if they got to the final tho.

Why have we been singled out in this?
because the club is sinking fast, crowds are even for the league are falling and, well, it's a new low. If you read the piece its more bad publicity for sisu.

Because the BBC will do anything to put the boot into the club. It's a conspiracy I tell you. Right Nick ;)

You're confused, you're thinking of the CT.

Because they are highlighting how pathetic a once great club has become. When you are bottom of stats you are a fact and not singled out.

Middlesborough got 308 for one of their games. think they will be bottom of the stats.

  • 392 fans watched Fleetwood take on Blackburn's development squad
  • 461 were at AFC Wimbledon to see them play Swansea Under-23s
  • 585 watched Accrington face Crewe
  • Just 1,198 - Port Vale's lowest crowd for 30 years - turned up for the game against Derby, with 120 of those supporting the visitors
  • And Wycombe sold three tickets in advance of their trip to Northampton, although 74 away fans were among the 1,408 inside Sixfields Stadium.

No the stats of a broader plane....we are bottom believe me.

I know you won't accept it but I'm pointing out this is an issue with the competition and not just down to our owners.

Don't try and make me out to blame our owners for everything. This competition is pants and always has been under any sponsor. Yes it gives a few fans a nice day out. But our current team won't get to Wembley even in this competition.

The format for the competition is rubbish agreed.

But SISU took over an old football club, maybe not the best but with a proud tradition, they have since just sat in it with minimal maintenance and let it go to ruin.

We're not bottom of attendances either in L1 or the EFL Trophy.

Portsmouth would have been a much better example. 17K against Doncaster in L2 then a few days later their lowest ever crowd, 1,355. Or maybe Swindon v Oxford, 9,013 in the JPT last year, 2,698 this year - the lowest ever for that fixture.

Usual trick then? Throw something out and get corrected. Then throw the sisu lover line.

I think your facts are probably better suited aren't they?

Your reply about the accountant, that's what it insinuates. All he did was give you examples of bigger attendance drops.

It's a common pattern that tends to happen.

All I have pointed out is where we are as a club....that won't be going to Wembley even in this Mickey Mouse cup. The task is and it is an all hands to the pump task, is to avoid relegation. Never quite understand why you are so twitchy and defensive Nick when it comes to the fact our owners are absolutely shocking. They have taken us back to before the Sky Blue era. You do support the Sky Blues don't you? I have never heard you spouting about the Bantams!

The discussion was about check a trade attendances wasn't it? It was also pointed out others have seen much bigger drops than we did.

Why is it twitchy to point something out that seems to have been missed?

Frankly I don't care about this competition or how other clubs are fairing in it. There is a much bigger picture to worry about. The tone of the newspaper article is correct....we have a sad case of a club in free fall.

The bbc sport web have recently taken more of an interest in Cov. I think it started with the pigs on the pitch .... Anyway on brighter note I reckon festa will get relegated !

Not saying I don't think the ship is sinking, just not sure why we've been singled out.

If the aim is to make SISU look bad there's plenty of things they can write about to do that which will show how bad they are, highlighting a EFL Trophy attendance when everyone reading knows its the same if not worse for every club isn't going to do that.

If the aim is to make the EFL Trophy look bad then why not pick the lower attendances or the games that have a hook to them.

Whilst no one can dispute attendance s are falling (albeit the current league averge is only marginally smaller then 2 years ago, so it may be we are plateauing out) but this weeks attendance says more about the competition than it does about our general attendance. Attendances across thr competition are well down, bringing in the u23 teams has completely devalued an already poor competition which didn't really draw in fans.

It's both without doubt

If that really is true then Stu I'd like to know why the team budget is 400k less now.
Not withstanding there's scope to go higher or lower crowdwise both this and next season.

My guess is, costs are still high and they are still making a loss and have not quite managed to cut the wage bill quick enough, IIRC the entire wage bill has been more than 100% for at least 3 of the 5 years we've been in league one before you consider the other costs. If they want to run breakeven then that means squeezing more costs, regardless of whether your income/turnover is the same. They also got their forecasting wrong last season so they may have also reduced costs to reflect that too.

We made a couple £m loss in the last accounts, it will be interesting to see the accounts for last season when they get released in a couple of months time.

Last night's attendance was the lowest at the Ricoh for a first team game. The lowest ever was not at Northampton but at Highfield Road. It was a Full Members' Cup game against Millwall in 1985 when neither team could qualify for the next round. The attendance that night was just 1086. I was one of them, there was only the main stand open and I'm sure it was a lower crowd than we used to get for reserve games.

I was at that Millwall match. Also at an away fixture at the Victoria Ground where there 16 of us in the away end. I was at the anglo-Scottish Cup game too. I remember that having a smallish crowd.

It's an article about the decline of CCFC, why would they mention other clubs?
