Was just reading some of the old letters from my Mum (God rest her soul), she liked to include newspaper cuttings in them. Well just read one where she included two cuttings from "The People" newspaper from Feb 12, 1995. One cutting is the FA Carling Premiership results and league table.
Coventry beat Crystal Palace 2-0 away. Goals by Cobi Jones and Dion Dublin. Ndlovu was described as Coventry's 'most dangerous player'. This result ended a run of 11 winless games.
The table shows CCFC 6th from the bottom with 31 points from 28 games. Manchester United were top and Blackburn second. Leicester were bottom.
The interesting thing about the results is that of all the goals scored in the premiership games, the only one by a non-British sounding name is Kanchelskis for Man U. Contrast that with today when a British player hardly ever gets on the scoresheet (or even gets a game).
The other newspaper cutting has a large photo of Cobi Jones celebrating his goal flanked by a smiling Dion Dublin and another CCFC player I don't recognise. There were side stories about Roy Wegerle having played his last game for Coventry and a story about manager Phil Neal who "will do everything in his power to stop us going down".

Half of the top 35 goal scorers in the premier league this season are British.
And last season it was 108 out of 178.

In the mid-nineties, it was probably more like 90-95%

I remember reading a newspaper headline 'Coventry find a gem in Jones', I think after a goal at Everton. I'm pretty sure I went to that one.
