All very neat & tidy but no real threat after a promising start with Tavares getting in behind. The out ball to Dabo is on all the time, as often though his crossing is atrocious but there's precious little in the middle for that type of delivery anyway.

Someone like Bright or Shipley should really be grabbing this by the scruff of the neck & staking their claim.

How did he do?

Couple of flashes but still looks way, way off first team level.
The odd bit of skill & a clever pass but wants 10 touches when 2 will do & completely bottled a challenge which was easily 80/20 in his favour. His movement off the ball was poor, never really influenced the game like you would hope/expect against a very young Sheff Wed side.

Cracking finish from Tavares... PUSB

Probably should have hit it first time & looked like the chance had gone but finished emphatically off the underside of the bar after a cutback.

Shipley has had a stinker
Honestly think he's done here. I don't know why we didn't ship him out tbh, his stock is going to keep on falling. For a league 1 team he's be a vital promotion asset based on his stats in our title campaign and yet you just know now we'll get zero for him. A few seasons ago clubs like Ipswich or Posh would pay 400-500k for someone like him.

Suspect that's the problem
Shippers would almost certainly have agreed to a move in the window and clubs were apparently interested
But I think we may have wanted a fee
Very few clubs below the PL could do that

Who would you say we're the stand-out performers?

You'd be hard pressed to say that anyone had an outstanding game tbh.

I thought Rowe coped well considering he's a RB/RWB playing at LCB.
Tavares always looks to play on the shoulder & is a threat if you can get that ball to him. Took his goal well after initially looking like he'd blown the chance.
Howley had a couple of loose touches but doesn't look out of place at all amongst our more senior heads.

First ever U23 game for me.
Quality afternoon, pint in The Anecdote and straight into the ground.
Nobody really stood out.
Dabo looked like he was going through the motions.
Bright? Meh.
Tavares took his goal well but I doubt he'd have been allowed that many touches in the Championship.

All in all, I'll be back and would encourage anyone with an afternoon to spare to pop up.

Wonderif he's a biit miffed with the club for not letting him go if he had something lined up?

Bright not ready yet, put a half decent shift in for about 70 minutes but certainly not set the world alight. Got these two games coming up then another international break. so should be two or three U/23 games needs to be up to speed by then.
Thought we deserved the draw in the end we played ok but again final ball not good enough.

No, next game is Sheffield United then there’s a two week break. They played non league sides to fill the void but a matter of whether they’re available

Perhaps in the January silly season someone might come in with an offer, possibly
