Have watched him up the ricoh and he comes and takes the ball with such confidence & his hands look solid! his distribution is also great ( helped no doubt by the fact he was an outfield player before becoming a keeper - watch his warm ups with the main team, his ball skills are unreal for a keeper! )
Now last night i see him coming out and closing down for one on one body saves, getting up high & holding onto the ball on a long range shot, where many keepers would make the save look spectacular by throwing an arm up & pushing the ball over ( which is what i expected him to do). To have the confidence & abilty to get two hands to it & hold onto it - preventing a corner - is the kind of thing that takes the pressure off the defense, and its those little things that make the difference between a clean sheet & possibly conceding from the resulting corner.
top marks to this young man, keep him between the sticks!
Which is what many were saying about him from the off and what Burge clearly wasn't showing.
That's not having a go at Burge, it's just that Charles-Cook in so much more commanding and in turn seemingly instills more confidence in the back four.
Interesting. the mention of him starting off as an outfield player, Glen Huddle was suggesting this was the way to go In future for goalies on the box the other night, may have been talking about Naur
