Is it all about win ratios? I made an example about lambert struggling at villa after success at norwich, holloway having success at Blackpool after having a mare at Leicester? It's all about how the group of players respond to the manager, how the manager fits in around the club and a massive part of it is down to luck.
You can bang on all you like about win percentages but I think that's just the tip of the iceberg, not the be all and end all like people are making out.
I was a manager at Sunday league level and probably had a 50% win percentage, should I apply? Exactly.....course not!!

Personally I'm most interested in them possibly making an appointment in the next day. Thats certainly a turn around from it will be 2 to 3 weeks before we make an appointment

No it's not all about win % but also about the context they managed in. Preston had a decent squad last season, probably a bit better than ours and they finished 15-17.

Phil Brown has had the most success out of all the managers that have been mentioned. Fact. Maybe they'll look at that aswell?

Err, but they then went 4 weeks without a manager and caretakers in charge before appointing Westley.
The uncertainty affects things, as it surely is doing here too. Hence the worse results since Thorn went.

This club is down on its knees, it is absolutely fucked and who do they believe will be able to turn this around, Phil fucking Brown.
His "high Grade CV and winning record" as quoted by SISU's main man Fisher,seems to have gone missing. Not unless he used tippex to erase his previous jobs and put in that he's managed only highly successful teams before ,and he was so unlucky to get sacked in all of them. I would bet Fisher would see the new improved CV via Tippex and believe it.
He's a FAILURE , and at best can only be an assistant manager. Most agree on here that this appointment is the most important decision for nearly fifty years,its that important, yet some are happy that this decision is Phil Brown
Get Wise in who has some real success, or someone else who has a bit of vision, but if Brown,Staunton and Terry Conner gets it, at Christmas they will be able to shut 3 sides of the ground so the crowd of 4-5000 can sit together.

Okay just a couple of comments from the Preston forum, but it is stuff like this that worries me.
Whilst I agree that the players aren't 100% innocent, they aren't responsible for being played out of position, they aren't responsible for the manager not knowing what his best side is and changing it every 5 minutes, resulting in a lack of understanding and cohesion, they aren't responsible for a new formation every 10 minutes, resulting in a lack of cohesion and understanding, they aren't responsible for playing a 40 year old in a 2 man midfield, they aren't responsible for the manager publicly slating players and stating they'll never play for the club and then asking them to play in the next breath. Need I go on, because I could?
Even Risdale could see that Brown's habit of making his young players turn up for extra training at 6:00 am after a defeat only to take them up to Longridge Fell and make them find their own way back might be counter-productive.

I respect your opinion, and i did say Wise or someone whose young-ish ,with a bit of vision for playing decent football but are hard to beat.
Id love the days back when every team dreaded coming to our ground,if they did get something they virtually had to be carried off at full time as they were so exhausted as we showed so much fight and passion to beat them.Nowadays its embarrassing to watch Baker ,amongst others ,jump out of a tackle like a little girl,which he did again, on Sunday
I still believe we have a good nucleaus of a team,with the youngsters playing the leading role, its just getting rid of the deadwood,Baker Bell and Sheff, and bringing in players for the wages they saved with those 3, but orange Ken has really fucked up that plan for the next four years,so if you can't sell them,loan them out ,as clubs have to contribute to their wages, so some money is free'ed up.We have no future with these players any where near the first team
I would have definately have Robins and Dyche as well and would support Blackwell if i had to.

I've said all along I would like Paul Tisdale, but I knew we wouldn't get him. Would be happy with Wilder too and Wise, if only for the inspiration and revolution he might bring.
I just don't want someone on a downward spiral and that is why I am totally against Brown and Ince etc.

Fair analysis from a very decent poster on GMK here me thinks.
Wise PRO: got Millwall to a cup final and Swindon and Leeds to the top of the league we're in. CON: long time out of management, Eric Hall, Newcastle debacle. Still the top contender for me.
Brown PRO: 12 months at Hull: CON; rest of time at Hull and Derby. Got Preston relegated to this league and was sacked the following December.
Blackwell PRO: Can't see any to be honest. Playoffs with Leeds and Sheff Utd I suppose. CON: took Luton to the brink of extinction and left Leeds and Sheff Utd in the relegation zone (where they stayed for the rest of the season).
Cotterill PRO: cheap? CON: surely can't be a serious choice after what he said about us after turning us down for Pompey. His record at Forest was poor.
Money PRO: is a romantic choice given his prior association with the club CON: Record doesnt stand up. His Walsall team played awful football - made harry bassett look like Rinus Michel apparently.
Dyche PRO: seemed to perform well at Watford and was treated badly in the aftermath of their takeover. CON: still relatively untested, on the whole his appt would be a step into the unknown.
Davies PRO: Successful record. Bound to upset the owners. CON: spends money like it's going out of fashion. Julian Darby as asst manager. Bound to upset the owners/everyone else at the club.
Wilder PRO: Seems to have done decent job at Oxford. CON: Still largely unknown. This remains (for now) a big step up from Oxford. Some Oxford fans are apparently not devastated by the prospect of him going.

Steve ,i don't agree that some people are opposed to everyone, at all. I have looked back over this and other threads and i can't find one person who is opposed to everyone.
If you give an opinion about some likely candidate and its negative, its not called moaning in my opinion, its how they feel about the person who might one day manage us.There are plenty of positive commments about all candidates on here

I wouldn't say that is a fair assessment.
Brown - Preston were already bottom of the league when he joined because of the appalling Darren Ferguson
Ferguson had 15 points from 22
Brown had 23 points from 22
So to say he got Preston relegated after he did a better job than the man he replaced is unfair
I also think it is unfair to say he had a good 12 months at Hull when he managed the club for around 4 years
Blackwell - He left Leeds and Sheff Utd very early in both seasons in August/September so to say he was in the relegation zone doesn't hold much weight that early on in the season. If he had left them in November/December then it would be different but you often see team get off to slow starts and improve throughout the season
Don't no much about his spell at Luton tbh but they were always on a downward spiral shown by where they have gone after his departure
Cotterill - has worked under similar conditions at Portsmouth, had a good spell at Notts County
Money - don't know much about his style but his record looks decent to me
Think most of the rest seem fair
