Andy Thorn has only had one bad experience
Probably too late to go for him now, expect he's been snatched up by Real Madrid or something by now.

Wish people will stop harping on about bloody won ratios!
Is it all about win ratios? I made an example about lambert struggling at villa after success at norwich, holloway having success at Blackpool after having a mare at Leicester? It's all about how the group of players respond to the manager, how the manager fits in around the club and a massive part of it is down to luck.
You can bang on all you like about win percentages but I think that's just the tip of the iceberg, not the be all and end all like people are making out.
I was a manager at Sunday league level and probably had a 50% win percentage, should I apply? Exactly.....course not!!
Well just seen in two papers that phil brown is set to be named as boss.
Well I hope they are wrong, this has "Road Crash" written all over it, I can see this being the shortest CCFC tenure ever, however still be a better option than Staunton and that's saying something, please GOD NO

They were 10th when they sacked him so it is obviously worked sacking himNo it's not all about win % but also about the context they managed in. Preston had a decent squad last season, probably a bit better than ours and they finished 15-17.

I also don't understand why everyone is so opposed to Blackwell

GMK don't seem to chuffed about Brown either.
Always knew they had good taste over there.
'Abysmal at Derby, a good 18 months at Hull otherwise abysmal, and abysmal at PNE.
Apparently we're expecting him to buck a trend.
Fucking hope this is wrong. '
'Would be an horrendous appointment.'
'How could they appoint someone like Brown on the back of his last job and not appoint Sean Dyche? '
'Texas, football fans can see managerial records and judge them from that. Without his spell at Hull he'd have a win % of something like 22%. '
'Brown - just fuck off, arsehole! done nothing without money, even in L1.'
'If he is appointed it is proof positive that a bad scenario can always be made worse.'
'Please god NO, apparently interviewed according to SKY.'
'JESUS H CHRIST, NOT HIM!'
'I bet he gave an inspirational presentation. He's just the sort of c**t that does well at interviews and is absolutely fucking shit at the job. '
'The nightmare will continue if he's appointed... Got to be Wise ffs!'
'He is a c**t. A shit c**t at that. As soon as results turn sour the fans will turn on him like they did Reid and we'll be back to square 1 all over again. '
'Please god not Phil Mahogany Brown, he is an orange tit. '
'PNE were in the same boat as us last season - how did he fare there??? He's had a 12-18 month spell where he did well, apart from that he's been shit. '
Id take brown, blackwell, robins over wise every day of the week.
Blackwell interests me I think he has the experience we lack, just not sure about his style of football
Okay just a couple of comments from the Preston forum, but it is stuff like this that worries me.
Whilst I agree that the players aren't 100% innocent, they aren't responsible for being played out of position, they aren't responsible for the manager not knowing what his best side is and changing it every 5 minutes, resulting in a lack of understanding and cohesion, they aren't responsible for a new formation every 10 minutes, resulting in a lack of cohesion and understanding, they aren't responsible for playing a 40 year old in a 2 man midfield, they aren't responsible for the manager publicly slating players and stating they'll never play for the club and then asking them to play in the next breath. Need I go on, because I could?
Even Risdale could see that Brown's habit of making his young players turn up for extra training at 6:00 am after a defeat only to take them up to Longridge Fell and make them find their own way back might be counter-productive.
Brown sacked
Maybe Ridsdale isn't a complete **** afterall
Some people seem to be opposed to everyone just because they love moaning!
God all this is really bothering you eh?
Your such a little worry bum aren't you!?
I wouldn't say that is a fair assessment.Fair analysis from a very decent poster on GMK here me thinks.
Wise PRO: got Millwall to a cup final and Swindon and Leeds to the top of the league we're in. CON: long time out of management, Eric Hall, Newcastle debacle. Still the top contender for me.
Brown PRO: 12 months at Hull: CON; rest of time at Hull and Derby. Got Preston relegated to this league and was sacked the following December.
Blackwell PRO: Can't see any to be honest. Playoffs with Leeds and Sheff Utd I suppose. CON: took Luton to the brink of extinction and left Leeds and Sheff Utd in the relegation zone (where they stayed for the rest of the season).
Cotterill PRO: cheap? CON: surely can't be a serious choice after what he said about us after turning us down for Pompey. His record at Forest was poor.
Money PRO: is a romantic choice given his prior association with the club CON: Record doesnt stand up. His Walsall team played awful football - made harry bassett look like Rinus Michel apparently.
Dyche PRO: seemed to perform well at Watford and was treated badly in the aftermath of their takeover. CON: still relatively untested, on the whole his appt would be a step into the unknown.
Davies PRO: Successful record. Bound to upset the owners. CON: spends money like it's going out of fashion. Julian Darby as asst manager. Bound to upset the owners/everyone else at the club.
Wilder PRO: Seems to have done decent job at Oxford. CON: Still largely unknown. This remains (for now) a big step up from Oxford. Some Oxford fans are apparently not devastated by the prospect of him going.
Tisdale PRO: People who I don't think have seen Exeter really rate him. Esp the GMK Admirers CON: Record at Exeter not so good now. Don't think he's even a candidate.
Steve ,i don't agree that some people are opposed to everyone, at all. I have looked back over this and other threads and i can't find one person who is opposed to everyone.
If you give an opinion about some likely candidate and its negative, its not called moaning in my opinion, its how they feel about the person who might one day manage us.There are plenty of positive commments about all candidates on here
