"Slashing" it to
just 16m!! Really!
How will they cope!!??
Like Derby being limited to 8m in League 1... sure our budget I the year we won it was circa 6m??
Signed Hendrick too on loan who by all accounts was terrible at QPR
S'Long suckers!Shane Long - Reading
Shane Long - Reading
I wonder if they are getting the band back together, just need Doyle and the Hunt brothers now.
Watched Rotherham away at Salford CIty last night and for the most part they were *checks notes* shite. Obviously it's only preseason and I'm not sure how strong a team they put out. Saying that 63-year old Richard Wood got mugged about 25 yards out to concede Salford's goal, could be a long season for them if he's still first choice CB.
Surprised Wood is still going at that level, he looked on his last legs towards the end of his time here, must be in his late 30s now?
I am too. Salford played some nice stuff and got in behind the defence time and time again, he really didn't offer muchSurprised Wood is still going at that level, he looked on his last legs towards the end of his time here, must be in his late 30s now?
Norwich spending up to £12m on a Brazilian midfielder from São Paulo.
Ah, Peter Reid
'So, I agreed to sell Davenport on the proviso that I had the money to reinvest. So, on that basis, I started looking about.
'I brought Stern John in and had Stephen Hunt over on trial from Ireland.
'What's more, Niall Quinn had tipped me off about Kevin Doyle. I was certain that if I could have got to the lad, I'd have signed him as well.
'I needed someone at the back to fill the gap left by Davenport and I'd lined up Malky Mackay who I felt would do a good job for us.
'What happened? We couldn't afford Hunt's £1,500-a-week wages. When I saw what was going on, I didn't follow up my interest in Doyle. Mackay went to West Ham.
'I asked the chairman: (Mike McGinnity) "Where's the money gone?"
'He looked at me and said: "Sorry Peter, the bank's taken it."'
In the same file as Ranson’s claims thenHmmmm.... Not sure if Reid is being wholly truthful there.
The story as I knew it at the time was that Kevin Doyle (amongst others) had been identified by Eric Black & was one of the reasons McGinnity dispensed with him for his "high profile" manager as he didn't think we should be messing about signing nobodies from Ireland etc.
Who knows which is true except that McGinnity's tenure, and Reid's, were an utter disaster.
Best quote I saw was Shane Long showing how many goals he will score this season.
He was sub a lot for a reason he isn’t a top league player just a bloke who worked hard.
To be fair we learned last season that goalkeepers get up to scratch pretty quickly. He’s a decent keeperBrum have signed John Ruddy. In the last 4 years he has only played 20 odd games max
Levy wins
Tottenham are very close to agreeing a deal with Middlesbrough for defender Djed Spence.
Final negotiations are ongoing over an initial fee of £12.5million rising to a potential total in the region of £20m if add-ons are met.
So basically the same as Simon Moore when we signed himBrum have signed John Ruddy. In the last 4 years he has only played 20 odd games max
Yes but 5 years olderSo basically the same as Simon Moore when we signed him
That 10m for both, or 10m each??....
Both you’d think, Toffolo only had a year left
It was for both, which is a steal.
Seems like the Toffolo part might have fallen through though.
