Had to walk to Highfield Road from Binley Village for that game as there were no buses running, possibly due to the energy crisis.
Won the replay 1-0.
I remember going to this too.

We all have a laugh about Sunderland but they have the best support outside the Prem by some way.
If we can maintain a push for play offs stay around top 8/10 then maybe we can keep the average at 18500, cant really see us averaging close to 21k which was the record average first season at Ricoh.
Unless we maintain automatic push.
I'd dispute that, they have the biggest crowds but I wouldn't be describing that bunch as the 'best support'- I'd certainly use words like "toxic", "entitled", "living in the past" though
Think that's harsh (apart from the few banging on about '77). They have fantastic support, and I think it's a bit shallow tarring 30k plus supporters with such a general brush. Just like not all of our supporters are 'sh*te hoying' cokeheads (albeit there are one or two of the latter). Nothing better than having friendly banter and a chat with opposing fans and nice to hear well wishes and praise about your team from the opposition. Insults only need to more unnecessary crap, and it's usually some poor innocent who cops for it in the end.

Yeah I agree but by numbers they are the best supported club outside the Prem at home.
Easy to forget Sunderland is a relatively small and economically deprivedcityshit hole.
It was as said the first FA cup-tie played on a Sunday there had to be a free turnstile something to do with the Lords Day Observance act so the 40 odd thousand could have been a bit higher.Had to walk to Highfield Road from Binley Village for that game as there were no buses running, possibly due to the energy crisis.

Yup.Voting Leave makes someone a bad person?
Carry on the way we are and the Derby home game in a few weeks could be the first 25k+ attendance of the seasonDerby will sell a lot too.
