Leeds are a funny one. Nothing on any of the news outlets that Farke has gone. They have loads of debt but no one knows how much Red Bull have put in and it's not inconceivable they have cleared it. Now turning down what would be a Championship record transfer fee (with add ons) for Gray.

Pretty much because Tottenham and Chelsea are both interested instead. Going to be a busy day of transfers in the PL today
Said on the radio it's because they couldn't agree the structure of payments. Guessing Leeds wants a large chunk up front for FFP purposes.

Sheff Utd won't be signing both him and McCallum so expect to see at least one of them linked with other clubs. Still think both would be an upgrade on what we have. Would make great foils with bidders imo.

He’d also cost about £5m and we can’t keep spunking millions on every position that needs upgrading. There are more pressing positions, namely GK, CM and rotation ST on top of the roughly £7m we’ve already spent.

I don’t think her cost that much, Ronnie Edwards was their crown jewel and he’s just gone to Southampton for £3m.

Apparently McCallum failed his medical at Sheff Utd.
Really disappointing for him if true.

I guess this shows how precarious being a professional footballer is and what a risk O'Hare is/was taking.

On McCallum I would imagine we wouldn't go there now but maybe depends on the extent of the problem. On a reduced wage a fit McCallum would be a great addition, but as I say I suspect it's too risky.

I don't profess to knowing how 'insurance' of players works, but is it the club who decide to 'gamble' or do the insurers effectively veto it by refusing to cover/charging excessive fees over increased risks in cases such as this?

Sounds like Hull doing some unusual business...

Reportedly were obliged to sign Ryan Giles a couple of weeks back and now are trying to offload him. Also desperately touting Philogene and Greaves out.

Insurance companies can refuse or just hike the cost of the cover. Yes if course a club can gamble. I don't see why we should bother if there is a flagged up risk. Plenty of other players out there.

I did suspect they threw everything at promotion last season and may now feel the pinch

As I understand it the player is liable for his own insurance. The club's risk in taking on a player who has failed a medical is him being unable to play. I don't think the club has to have in place an insurance policy for the player.

£18m for Philogene agreed now.

Also, I know it's not championship but Ipswich have also agreed a £20m fee for Liam Delap. Good player but seems steep after only 8 goals last season.

Not convinced they ever fully owned Philogene so not sure how much of this transfer fee Hull will see. Seemed to be a strange old pals act between the Villa owner and the Hull owner.
