I know you are being sarcastic here but that is how this whole thread comes across.

Clubs can change there mentality and direction without going nuts and changing things for no reason at all.

I agree that a lot of changes need to be done at our club.
So lets go through some of them and rule the bad ideas out.
Lets start with kit colour ... will it make us a better football team/club ?

Ok I respect your opinion, yes there is something seriously wrong with the club. The club does need rebuilding right from the coaching staff, the playing squad, the board room and owners and the day to day running of the club from the bottom. We need to create a feel good factor and get the community involved and have a whole city uniting behind a football club. As Thorn said in his interview we need everyone to be pulling in the same direction, that includes everyone in the council the people living in the city and everyone involved in the club. The football club should be the heart of the community, when you enter a public place it should be full of the sky blue strip. Instead all you see are the Red and Blue of clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool. Before and after games the local pubs should be packed to the rafters buzzing and singing songs, instead they are half empty and sounding like a funeral.

I am a young fan but my Grandad always tells me about the games vs Wolves, we had over 50k fans at that match. He told me he had to climb on top of the roof at highfield road to watch that game it was that packed.
Could you imagine those sort of figures now and the buzz around the whole city.
He also told me after the games you could go and have the drink with the players after the game, my Grandad criticised one of the players on a poor performance and Hill came over and told my Grandad he wasn't to criticise the teams as that was the managers job.
I am sure there are many other similar tales but these things are unheard of now was the majority of footballers are overpaid prima donna who are put on a pedestal and worshipped. Jimmy Hill did a lot of great things for football but was getting rid of the max wage one of the worst things? I guess if not him someone else would have.


Anyway the sky blues are our identity, if we are not the sky blues then who are we? We would be just another club playing in another colour in the lower leagues. We don't need to change our identity to be successful, we should be proud of our history and not try to forget it. Offer most clubs in the football league 1 major trophy and 34 years of consecutive top flight football and they would all take it bar maybe 5 or 6 of the top clubs.
All clubs go through bad spells in time it doesn't mean you should panic and change the entire image of the club, our time in the lime light will come again in the future I am sure.

Restructuring the club is a must, but rebranding... I'm not so sure about that. I couldn't imagine chanting anything other than "Sky Blue Army". That is who we are. When Hill revitalised and rebranded the club back in 62, the football club wasn't viewed as it has been or even as it is now. In fact, so I read, there was an element of resentment towards it. There was no history, no identity. We have both of those things in abundance now... infact thats the only thing we do have. Let's keep hold of it.

When you witness the team you love rot from the inside out slowly, so that all that's left is a rotten corpse languishing in the basement of the football league, all we have is our history and identity.

I support The Sky Blues. They once were called The Bantams.

I do like the Singers black and red kit though.

I agree but changing badges, kit etc. is trivial if they don't have the passion, determination and drive to turn the club around on and off the pitch and in the community. Changing the colour of the kits is unneeded for the club to move forward.

The club needs to mean something again. Back when we used to sign players, in interview, it has always been the stadium that was the pull. Never the "When a club like Coventry are interested, you can't say no."

When we were in the PL and before, there was the incentive of playing at a well established top filght team. There was an honour that went with it. Not any more.

We have one of the best badges in the country I still think-captures the history and identity of the city very well and I wouldn't change that (though this season's one wasn't so bad). As a few others have already said, many of us have grown up watching 'the Sky Blues', and for all that name is tied with the club's rise to the top flight under Hill-it would take a brave, or crazy, man to suggest it change.

There is all the history attached to every aspect of the club yes. When it changed for the better by Jimmy it was immediately taken up and the passion and drive attached to it was infectious. The kit, the name, the song, the whole marketing strategy.
now today we find ourselves tired and lackluster in appeal and there is nothing infectious anymore.
A change across the board would do this club a lot of good. I know i want to not just see a difference but almost feel a difference from now on. Not suggesting we lose the sky blue, maybe we could and maybe we could just change it all and become more relevant than that 60's appeal.
I don't know about anyone else but when ever i hear the commentary on radio or TV about the 'Sky Bluuuueess' we sound like a bunch of wussies! There's just too many syllables and no impact. I remember being on the terraces at the spion kop in the late 60's and 70's and we always chanted 'City' never the long winded wussie 'sky blues'.

I'd love another Jimmy Hill era....what ever that form took to get us away from the last 25 years of drab.

A kit can also make a difference. It has been scientifically proven. Wearings stripes for instance creates the illusion of players seeming bigger.

I am pretty sure that if any team wore a pink kit this could well be considered to be a weakness.
