Yeah, we definitely used to sing it, but for the life of me I can't remember the words.I vaguely remember a song to that tune in the 80's - can't remember the words though and haven't heard it at a City game for years.
The long lost 155th sonnetPure Shakespeare
We used to sing that at junior school in the lates 70s early 80s except it was Liverpool are tragic.Didn't we also used to sing 'We all agree, Coventry City are magic?'
Followed by 'Aston Villa are tragic.'
A Mexican mariachi tune wasn't it?
It was wasn't it? I have trumpets spinning in my mind.We used to sing that at junior school in the lates 70s early 80s except it was Liverpool are tragic.
I've only just realised it's a Mexican Mariachi tune!!
I think that was more a Liverpool/ Everton thing from what I remember - the anti Villa songs tended to be much more vitriolic. 'My old man said be a Villa fan', 'Hes only a poor little Brummie', ' The Villa sing, I dont know why coz after the match they're going to die' etc etc.Didn't we also used to sing 'We all agree, Coventry City are magic?'
Followed by 'Aston Villa are tragic.'

I’m trying to think of the name of the tune, I’m sure it is well known. The other version of that wasWe definitely sang 'Coventry City are magic. ' I remember singing it. And the Villa bit on the end.
Thought it ended with ... and she’s the saviour of Saturday!!From my sketchy memory
We'll drink a drink a drink
To lily the pink the pink the pink
The saviour of the human race
For she invented the Coventry City
The greatest team in all the land.
Or something like that
I did say sketchy, maybe we all sang something differentThought it ended with ... and she’s the saviour of Saturday!!
We usually do.I did say sketchy, maybe we all sang something different
I was more thinking in terms of 20th century to be honest. We all agree, Bill Glazier is better than Yashin.
Xxxxxxx is better than Eusebio and United are in for a thrashing.
That’s how I remember it.
Bloody kids!I was more thinking in terms of 20th century to be honest.
The team should be running out to that tune every week. And let's get these geezers in the crowd instead of the monotonous drum.Don't say i never do anything for you
Already been done. The team should be running out to that tune every week. And let's get these geezers in the crowd instead of the monotonous drum.
