How would you face it?
Dispassionately Is there any reason why his parents shouldn't attempt to extend their time and efforts trying their hardest for him?
It appears If there has been any economic consideration in the medical professions deliberations, the offers his family have received negate that.
I'm not greatly informed here and know only of brief TV coverage.
It seems hopeless for the child but does he feel pain, is he aware of anything?
Are they just a young couple who can't accept their reality, should he become a Guinea pig, will he even know?

Think you have to go with what the doctors are saying. The poor kid can't see, hear, move, cry or swallow, his lungs have packed up, he has irreversible brain damage and would die if he wasn't being artificially kept alive.

They want to take him to the US to try an experimental drug that hasn't been approved by the FDA. Its not a cure, it would just prolong his life and may not even do that as the doctors offering the treatment have never treated anyone with such an advanced case.

Just think it's a desperately sad case especially for one so young, along with Bradley Lowery who sadly passed today. I find it increasingly difficult to watch the news programmes when these stories are featured. Can't begin to think how his parents manage to keep going nor for the doctors, nurses and other medical specialists who see this every day.

Sadly the parents have lost touch with reality, the child will be little more than a medical experiment.
It makes me angry the Vatican & Trump are using the lads plight for their own purposes. In this case the courts are right.

However, they have been given this 'ray of hope' and I would imagine it is very easy to cling to that when you're talking about your dying baby...........

Horrendous situation all round.

Can't imagine how bad it would be in that situation but at some point they need to think of the poor kid and not themselves. He's effectively a body plugged into a machine now.

It's absolutely awful but I agree with the courts, but it should be down to them to come round and make the decision.

It's so easy to persuade yourself in situations like that, I've done it myself before but in the end it just makes the reality hit harder.

I think the courts and medical professionals of course know best, but so difficult as I know in their shoes that I'd cling to even the faintest of hopes. Regardless of the outcome it should be in private and not played out in front of the media (who are culpable for indulging the parents). I also hope it doesn't become politicised any further as any excuse bow seems to have one side blaming the other for things they can't really control.

My baby son died thirty years ago and I often think what he would have become etc ? Its sad but life can be cruel at times but these parents need to let the baby go.

Correct BBR.

My baby daughter would be 7 now....

As soon as we knew how ill she was, I asked the consultant to ensure they let us know as soon as "it was time".....

...when that time came, they untangled her from all the equipment & let us both have a hug.....my wife was in bits & couldn't handle it, but I hugged her until she finally passed away in my arms.

Heartbreaking......but not as heartbreaking as watching a helpless little baby being kept alive against all medical advice.

Poor little fella. Give him some peace.

I'm sorry to read of that BBR & JHFC. Can't imagine either of you will ever get over that, I know I'd be lost. Massive respect for talking about it so candidly on here.
Respect to you also for your sentiments. It was a horrible time as you also had the funeral to sort out etc. You find the strength from somewhere though and just get on with it but my missus was in bits. She's my ex now but when we occasionally meet up we don't talk about it which is probably how we handled it.

Apparently they have been kicking off in court shouting at people from the hospital. I'm not sure why they think the hospital would be lying. Also seen that the poor thing may be in pain also.

So so hard. I strongly hold that the parents wishes must be respected and followed but we don't always know best do we?

We don't. We are too embroiled in it all. Too close to look at the reality.

From what I have read this baby will have absolutely no quality of life whatsoever. Nothing. It is all very tragic but I believe the poor child needs to have some peace now and be put out of its awfully miserable sad existence.

The parents have had an argument with the judge and walked out of court.

Can't shake the feeling that there's more to this than their concern for the child.

Was just about to post, shouting at the judge in court how he is meant to be impartial.

It's a bit random, I know they are grieving but still don't get it.

they're about to lose their child, I get it totally.
Plenty of threads son this board about people who have hurt or mis treated children so there's no way I would criticise parents who love their child very much, are clearly heart broken and unable to accept what's happening to them. Very sad story.

I understand that and could never imagine the pain. Just don't see why they want the poor lad to stay suffering for years to come :(

I think they just need time to accept it and let go, don't think they can win this and probably better if they don't.

See the parents stormed out of court again earlier in the week as they objected to new medical information being introduced, which was supposed to be the whole point of the exercise. Before storming out the Dad called GOSH 'Evil' and yelled 'I'm not fucking listening to this biased shit anymore.'

And now the hospital have said police have had to be called in because of death threats to the doctors and the level of abuse they are being subjected. Not all of it online either, there's even been problem around and in the hospital.

I completely understand the emotion involved and wanting to do everything possible for your kid but this goes way past that.

I don't think the parents have been treated well at all myself. I think they should of decided the fate for their child. Utterly heart breaking. They seem to have been shunned to me and they are feeling it and of course you would. If 7 months ago he was given the green light for treatment he stood a chance. Something the parents now have to live with.

I'm no Doctor but it's my opinion.

Well the expert medical opinion is different to yours. Think I'll believe their opinion
