Cheap Satnavs (1 Viewer)

I need to get the missus a satnav, she won't use it very often so I don't want to spend much. I'm trying to decide between a Garmin or a TomTom, and on price have narrowed it down to these 2. Anyone got or used one of these? I've used the inlaws garmin once or twice but never used a TomTom. Thanks

Garmin 42

Used both Garmin and Tomtom's through work, not those exact models, but found the Tomtom easier to use, and the Garmin always used to struggle finding where I was.

Does your wife have a smartphone?

If it would only be required occasionally, another option could be to use an app like Google Maps or Waze.

Would just need to pick up a holder/in car charger.

Agree with Google Maps.

Doesn't use too much data, has live traffic updates and you can guarantee it'll be as up to date as it gets with regards to roads and routing.

Waze is good for live updates but looks a bit unprofessional for my liking. Google Maps owns Waze so takes their traffic update data anyway.

Google mass is head head head and shoulders over any sat nav.

Google maps have never let me down
