This being the danger. In a tight game say in the playoffs semi final all it takes is one moment of madness from Mr Bean in goal.
I remember years ago it happened to Scott Shearer when he dropped the ball into the net against Wigan at HR and never recovered from that mistake.
How about a few minutes before the end of a Cup Final, when a brilliant save denies a goal, and ultimately helps to win a cup? But hey, let's just pick out the bad points.....

I still cannot understand anyone wanting to say anything good about him, every time the ball goes near him most peoples hearts are in their mouths, he is a total liability, sure he has pulled off a couple of decent saves but thats what they are paid for...Simple equation we have a better keeper we have more points on the board FACT !!!

if we had better defenders, better midfielders, better attackers we'd have more points FACT!
He's a league 2 keeper, and he's definitely not the worse.

Agree - as someone else pointed out, he made a quality save early on in the game that could easily have slipped from his grasp.

Not really. The rules changed last season so that a penalty and yellow card is enough punishment. You would only get off for serious violent conduct.
That is only applicable if the referee seems it a genuine attempt to play the ball. A red card and penalty can still be given if it is a DOGSO offense and no attempt to play the ball.

Indeed if you watched the West Ham game today ,in the first half alone the Man City keeper who costs millions, tried under no pressure play a ball out to Walker which went out for a throw in, then tried to beat a man on the edge of his own box lost the ball, and was fortunate that the ref disallowed the resulting 'goal' for a foul. Then he proceeded to let a free kick through his hands for a pretty soft goal. All that in just 45 minutes, in the 2nd half he hardly touched the ball. At the other end the West Ham goalie raced out of his area but Stirling beat him to the ball and really should have scored. Then his dreadful clearance led directly to Man City's 4th goal.
I can understand some people feeling we can upgrade on Burge and have no problem with that, but some fans seem to have an almost irrational hatred of a goalie, who has largely had a decent if not fantastic season. All goalkeepers make mistakes, just the same all strikers miss sitters. How many goals has Hart cost West Ham this season, and he has been considered England's best keeper for years.

No goalie would be good enough here.
They are the only player not allowed to make a mistake (except Haynes) you get the well that is what they get paid for shit.

Just my opinion of course.

Nope and neither are the combined wisdom of the experienced league 2 managers. What’s hard for you guys to understand

The thing is with the theory of L2 managers votes won him the title of keeper of the year is flawed a little by the fact half of this forum don’t rate the opposition managers. So in theory we’re now trusting the clueless opinions of the likes of your Russell Slade’s, Steve Evans and Danny Cowley of the league. Not to mention the managers who’ve been the beneficiaries of his occasional errors and the fact that as little as 6 or 7 votes might of clinched it as it may not of been a landslide victory.

Westwood was signed after being the league 2 keeper of the year. Listening to akinfenwa on 5 live it means a lot to the players. Who won the players one?

I’ve no doubting it means a lot to be recognised for your season achievements.

Do you need to post that every time someone posts a sky sports video?

It’s simple they only work in the UK. If you want to watch them use a VPN like everyone has said a million times. Takes 5 mins
Every time someone posts a link that does not work, I'll post the same response, so others outside the UK don't waste their time.

Tbf I would have said a sending off, no attemt to play the ball.

Dont know about this I have looked at it a couple of times and again at real slow speed and it looks like he was trying to hoof it (the ball that is)
with his left foot and either slipped, missed it completely, or the ball bobbled and missed it completely. Would like to see it from a camera behind the line.

Got caught out and took one for the team just like most other players would.

No, I'm.a football fan who watches him week in and week out and some people have a weird thing for him. It's as if they miss him screw up every other game.

Ive been looking at this as it doesnt look right. He was going to clear it, and either the ball bobbled or Eisa managed to just flick it to the right before he got there. However if Eisa did flick it, I would've thought he would be jumping in the air afterwards to avoid Burge as well.

Burge was saved by the fact it was in the box, otherwise we'd have been down to ten men.

In terms of the quality of Burge, he makes his fair share of errors but that seems to be the general level of league 2 goalkeepers. I don't think he's any better or worse than this level.

Is that Stech who let in the shot from McNulty that looked like it was a simple save for any other keeper?
