Some people always make out this was some masterstroke from Ranson. All it was was that Gray initially went on loan to Fulham taking him to the end of his contract with us. When the next transfer window came round Fulham had used their quota of loans so decided to sign Gray for a fee to get round this. They probably paid us about £1... which in fairness is still £1 too much.
