Chris Dunn (1 Viewer)

Seriously strong rumours from in and around NTFC that our goalkeeper Chris Dunn is poised to sign for you guys next week.

He is under 24 so would command compensation but he is out of contract.

Will be a decent keeper eventually, however he has made some absolute howlers in his time with us.

He has a decent game that makes you think hold on he is going to go all the way in the game, then he has a game where he stays on his line, where he catches a cross and falls in his own net and you wonder how he ever became a goalkeeper!

A really nice fella though, quite and an introvert, which kind of counts against him as a goalkeeper.

His biggest problem, his kicking is fooking terrible.

With some more coaching, and another year or 2 and i reckon he'll be a top top keeper.

Thanks, We have a top goalkeeping coach in Steve Ogrizovic (Oggy) hopefully he can work his magic if we sign Chris Dunn.

Never seen him play but the only concern I have is that we now have no expierenced keeper. I know we signed Westwood at 23/24 but he came with a big reputation & we had Andy Marshall as well if Westy couldn't make the step up. We could potentially be going into the new season with 3 keepers 2 of which have never played at this level & the other gets injuried if you sneeze on him. Season is a long way of so i'm sure alot will happen between now and then.

He'll do fine i'm sure mate. You'll see alot of NTFC fans slating him, just ignore them. He has become a bit of a scapegoat for some of our fans for some reason.

Oggy is a legend and i'm certain with his coaching then Dunn will only improve.

Don't know much about him. Your review seems pretty honest. Just wait and see I suppose. Do you know of anyone else interested or are we the only ones. How did County get on this season btw. Westwood is worth 15 points a season in the championship how about your boy? Always had a soft spot for County -I had a wheelbarrow, the wheel fell off.

Northampton Town, not Notts County! So no idea how they've done really, a quick scan of the League 1 table shows they stayed in League 1 just so well done Notts County :)

Watford were apparently also in for Dunn, however i believe the Coventry deal is pretty nailed on. Its an honest review of a player as i see him.

Personally this season he's probably earned us 10 points but then lost us 10 points also, so evens.

Makes sense there's a lot of traffic between the 2 clubs and they usually play in the pre-season

I'm not sure that there is much truth in this rumour, I live in Northampton (Duston) and none of my friends who are cobbler season ticket holders have heard anything, furthermore he is inconsistent and average! Uhh oh!

Op are you the owner if the cars with the N7FC number ploates in Duston?

I think if we were 2 sign Dunn it wuld be as a number 2, wiv ireland going out on loan. Since i saw him play against Port Vale and he looked poor, and couldnt kick the ball at all

OMG what div. Sorry. We playing in pre season this year? The only silver ware I have ever seen was City lifting the Jackson Grundy cup when Jeffers scored in the last 10 mins :p

Did this Dunn play against us last Pre-season coz I remember the keeper shanking a goal kick badly then struggling as we slaughtered him before every kick.

As for McKenzie, he scored some important goals for the Cobblers but didn't get a new deal. I tweeted him about that knobhead Johnson and he said he didn't want to waste his energy commenting in him. Lol

If your assessment is accurate then i'd find it a bit strange if we took him on as our no.1. Maybe he'll be our no.2/3 under someone like Murphy, with Ireland being the other first-team keeper. Although that also leaves Burge- has he been given a pro deal or just signed on to another youth deal? I just find it hard to believe we'd get a first choice keeper who's known for not being totally reliable. When we signed Westy, even though he wasn't proven in the Champs, as my dad & uncle are Carlisle fans i knew that he was rated as a future superstar as far back as then, so bringing him in was probably a bit different to a more unknown quantity like this!

Nothing more than a Number 13 is my guess.

Duston Cobbler is one of a very small minority of Cobblers fans who think he's any good. One clean sheet in the last 26 games speaks volumes and he fails to mention all his other shortcomings. If you mugs are stupid enough to pay a Bosman fee for him, believe me, the majority of Cobblers fans have offered to pay for a taxi to take him to the Ricoh to sign for you. Dunn has been coached by Dave Watson and more recently Tim Flowers, and if anything he's getting worse.

was quite interested in this topic as the position is key, so just been on the NTFC forum, he his hot topic at the minute but nothing to suggest other than a mention, just seems like we are a name being thrown into the ring ?

Just to back up the rumour it has been confirmed by one of our local journos....reputable and reliable with his information....

If you look at his timeline you can see the tweets relating to Dunn and Coventry...

Talks not yet at an advanced stage, but has left #ntfc in a bit of a conundrum. Looks like they will bring in a new keeper regardless. #ntfc

I wouldn't say he is Championship level yet, but he could be one day. I'd say he is an average League 2 keeper, prone to errors but can pull off decent stops.

You've gone way over the top in your hammering of Dunn like most of our fans.

Thats excatly what we need, an average league 2 keeper

We've just offered Dunn a new contract.....no coincedence that it is the same day your Embargo is removed....

This way we'll get compo. £10k maybe ha!
