Don't forget Leeds were deducted 10 points that season in the Championship which in affect relegated them. Wise left Leeds in 3rd place despite them being deducted a further 15 points that season in League One.

They were already relegated when they went in to admin, hence the 15 point deduction the season after. Without the 15 point deduction they would have been 2nd but were in fact in 5th place (not 3rd) when he left the club.

They were in financial trouble when they were relegated but go and look at that squad compared to outs that got relegated last season - many had either played in the PL or went on to play in the PL

Healy - went on to PL Fulham
Derry
Alan thompson
Gary Kelly
Flo
Cresswell
Robbie Blake

Some decent players, all of which would have walked into our first 11 last season.

My worry with Wilder, or any manager that isn't Dennis Wise for that matter is how much time the fans will give him. Look at the facts of this league - it usually takes teams two or three seasons to return. Some fans seem to think we have a god given right to the top spot. I really fear that if this doesn't go to plan, the revolving door will spin again and were back to where we started. Some consistency, even some fans don't like it, is desperatly needed. The drive for instant success has ruined this club.

FFS why should Wise be treated any different !!!!!!
Shaw has how many hundred CCFC appearances and he was booed off after one bad performance why should Wise get any more than that ?

I'm not saying he should be! Granted he would be my choice, but whoever it is should be given time. Unfortunately, I just don't think our fans are patient enough.

I haven't read the whole thread but ...

has anyone commented on the fact that going for Wilder would demonstrate a knowledge of football that has so far been sadly invisible from SISU?

Which would explain why some people are saying Gene Wilder.

Sisu are in Hollywood trying to find his agent as we speak.

"Having looked at the Cov forum they do sound generally pretty keen and drone on about CW's win ratio being 47%. I think that they fail to realise that quite a lot of that high percentage is due to playing some pretty poor outfits in our conf days. Since our return to league football the ratio has been roughly 35%. I think they've got a bit of a disappointment coming their way."

Wonder who they are referring to droning on about his win ratio Otis

May be jumping the gun a bit but what do we reckon for possible line ups if he is appointed and plays 4-3-3

I reckon we could see a front 3 of Mcgoldrick flanked by Elliott and Mcdonald with Fleck supporting from midfield with maybe Jennings and Kilbane holding

Really could be jumping the gun, but change of formation could be refreshing. Think id have fleck instead of Elliott, and Barton being the supporting midfielder.

Not sure I've got that much power.

35% would be paradise after the last 17 months.

His record in League Two: -

2010/11 - PL 46 W17 D12 *L17 = PTS 63 position 12th
2011/12 - PL46 W17 D17 L 12 = PTS 68 position 9th
2012/13 PL4 W3 D0 L1 = PTS 9 position 3rd

Total played 96, won 37 drew 29 lost 30 win ratio 38.5% *Points per game 1.46 (67 over 46 games)

Not bad reading, and has seen continuous improvement.

Good, saved me the job of looking it up! As I guessed points per game is good and improving. He looks worth a go.

It is really good to see a greater engagement with stats, but I would question how useful they are when it comes to a new manager. There is just no telling of how they will get on with the current playing staff, boardroom, coaches. There's all sorts of snap, crackle and pop chemistry that goes on. Stats are much more useful for assessing how a manager is doing at any given club.

Oxford fans are slightly deluded, Some saying such things as "Coventry is a step down for Wilder as we are a bigger club than them" And "Coventry are in desperate trouble and could get relegated with Portsmouth":facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Haha so which is it, definitely not on our radar, or is in directors box and is most likely in advanced negotiations.

I'd much rather have Wise, Ince, Blackwell or Megson over Wilder and Tisdale. Appointing either of Wilder or Tisdale will only act as a catalyst for us to become a smaller club and rot in this division for years.

seen how well Blades have done and was having a quick look at the time we were linked with Wilder.

some positive comments on here as well.

I'd hardly call John Fleck a CCFC cast off.
