Thought this last season but Rochdales 1st goal confirmed it, Stokes was left standing as their wide player ran unchallenged. Centre half or the left side of a back 3 but out wide too slow to play their.

To be fair, that Mendez- Lang chap is exceptionally quick and he was going past several of our players as if they weren't there. Stokes won't face many players of that calibre in L2.

Id rather have him at CB with Haynes on his left, he has a LB's brain and can talk Haynes through a game, think Haynes has the tangibles just needs to learn the game and position at this level

Agreed - there are several players where offering a new deal would be "taking a chance". By no means should we take a chance on all of them, but Stokes would be one for me.

I like that idea - I remember he had a good game I think at Chesterfield away last season in just that role.

I think considering how long he was out for, he's not doing half bad! And as Singers says, Mendez-Laing is quick as hell and not many Lb's will match his pace

I do think he'd make a great CB though so wouldn't be against him changing position

I think his best position is.centre half. Would love to see him next to Reda Johnson type central defender partner

I'd imagine with a full preseason behind him he'd get back half a yard of pace. Stokes and Clarke would be my choice paring in league two.

Good solid boring left back lacks attacking dimension, but very good CB lacking nothing.

Also, if we had Moses in centre midfield, he'd part the opposition like the Red Sea, and plant a perfect pass through to John the Baptist up front. As long as Judas Iscariot doesn't hoof the ball into his own net too often a la Andy Pierce, we'll be the champions of Europe in no time.

Agreed, Stokes is better at CB or part of a back three. Since he joined he has never really looked like a proper athlete compared to most pros. No doubt the ability is there, but this is probably why he didn't make it all the way through the system and came up from non-league.

Awesome - one of our best players who played left back in 90% of games last season is now "boring", "lacks pace" and "can't cross". Thank fuck we managed to replace him with someone who can't think, can't pass, can't defend, can't hold position for two seconds and has the stamina of Johnny Vegas after a night out.

moses plays right wing or upfront silly.

I think being out long-term and then suddenly reappearing in the first team is why he won't be quite up to speed until the start of next season, wherever he is by that point.

Before his injury though he was a revelation, and the reason I'll never scoff at any signing from a team 'beneath us' ever again.
