Is anyone really going to judge a team's promotion credentials at the start of May? Silly season's well under way
Seems a tiring exercise in futility that.
8 players are needed. 4 loans and 4 free transfer experienced pros. Back up at left back, a right winger a left winger. Creative midfielder. 2 strikers. A back up hard man. And one more depending on who leaves
Or they dislike Andy Thorne that much. They know you won't achieve success without the signings, but by saying you can will set AT up for a fall.
IMO give the man the replacements for the lost players then judge him. Do the same as last summer. Assets strip and don't replace, we will never know for sure if Thorn is a good manger or not.
I have mentioned Stevenage on a previous post last week. They are a team. Something we are not. They are well drilled and know there jobs. If they do not go up expect them to get 4 points off us next season.
I must be deluded.
Astute, I am not talking about other teams I am talking about Stevenage.
Why do you say I have no idea. I watch Stevenage a lot and they are much better than they get credit for. Unless we sort ourselves out we will lose to them, just wait and see.
I did mention if they don't go up!

Those odds don't take into account that 3 of the four playoff teams will be there aswell so I wouldn't think we will remain 4th favourites ahead of potentially Sheffield u, mk dons and Huddersfield. Also like to point out we are joint 4th fav with Crawley.... Not happy reading!!!! Odds on skybet.
Joint 4th fav with Crawley. I feel physically sick just looking at those words.
agree with most of that. We need sisu to do their bit now sign thre extra players to give us the depth they took away from us last year. Then replace man for man every player that leaves this summer. That's 5 imo. So 8 signings in totalWe played well as a team once the youngsters knew more of what was needed. We lacked a goalscorer. Cody looked good towards the end of the season. He will find it even easier next season if he can keep fit and injury free.
Are you telling me that without knowing what our squad and team will be you know how good or poor we will be? As things are we should be a top half Div 3 team. We would not need many players to come in to improve us. We need depth. We need players that AT can use to change formations with. We are not as bad as you make out. If the goalscoring situation is sorted out before the start of the season then we WILL do well next season. If we stay about the same then we are looking at a top half finish. If SISU get rid of our 1st team again then we are fooked again like last season. We have decent players. We just need more. We need cover. This is what cost us in the end. We got over the very poor start we had. Did we do this with crap players? Yes, it took time to gel the team. It took time to coach the academy lads. If we keep them all then we have a good nucleus. A couple of old heads in with them will help in their journey.
I must be deluded. I think we should be good for a top 6 finish.
Last season we did not play as bad as a demoted team. We had a lack of goals though. Next season Cody should be able to score goals from the start. We will be up against players not as good as last season. We should have most of the players we finished with last season. Our younger players now have experience, and at a higher level. To me it is down to who AT is allowed to bring in. With more high earners gone we will be able to bring in players on 1/3 of the wage of the players that have and will go. This means we can have a bigger squad for less outlay.
This is where we are lucky to have AT. Not only is he our manager but he is also our scout. He has watched games at this level for years. He will know what is needed to get us out of it. He will know what sort of player is needed. The teams that have gone up this season all play a passing game. We play a passing game. Our players are better than most teams in the third division. It all depends on who we can bring in. We need another striker. We need backup for a few positions. There will be plenty of players out of contract. How many decent players play for small teams in our new division that would love to play for a team as big as us? Before anyone says this is wrong look at the crowds most teams got last season. A lot of away games will seem like home games for us.
If we get off to a good start the fans will be back. I have never known us to finish in the top 6. This means the majority of our fans have not either. We will sell out most weekends away from home. The buzz will be back. the Sky Blue Army will march on.
Now it is down to SISU and how much they want us to go up. If we have a successful season we will have big home attendances. There will be more cash coming in. 10 players on 1.5k a week is 15k. How much was Fatwood and Cranie on? Then take off a few more that will leave/be sold. We will have a better squad for less money. Lose a little quality, but as we are going to be in a lower level we will be OK. When I am happy with how our squad looks for the season I will have a sizeable wager on us getting promoted. FFS have a look at the teams in the division. Tell me how many players you would like from each team. An average team in a poor division will look good. that don't mean we will struggle against them.
As things stang I would say we are in the top 25% of teams in Div3. This is top 6. Teams around us would love to have most of our players. If things go well we could be scoring for fun. The defences will not be as good as we are used to being up against. The GK's will not be as good either. I am looking forward to next season. Have new grounds to go to. Stands to go mental in. New natives to take the p!ss out of.
You will feel even sicker when you realise their transfer budget was 3 x the size of ours last summer
Lots of if's there! I hope Cov do the double over Stevenage but they have built and built over the last several years. We start again every season. They are settled and on the up we are unsettled and just gone down. Is that a fair point?
