I dont know how the Police got away scot free with this evidence!! They appeared very heavy handed, although the influx of supporters who got involved was unnecessary. I can only guess that that was the reason other officers got involved.

Did anyone see the Officers excuse for not having his numbers??.........................He was ill, and didnt want to get too warm in his proper hi-vis jacket so he wore a temporary one, but couldnt find his shoulder numbers.

Now im usually all for supporting the Police. After all, the majority are decent and do a good job. However, if this is the best excuse an officer can come up with, and his seniors are prepared to let him use it, then I worry about who manages our Police forces!

Wish id seen that little kid at the time though, the one who was jumping up the back of a chair (although his balance was shit) while trying to do the :jerkit: sign! Someone needed to teach him a lesson! To think that is the kind of young supporter we have supporting our club. That is the future supporter we have to look forward to taking over our weekly support :thinking about:

An excellent find. Now, from what I can see an officer tells the man to sit down, and then grabs his arm. At this point, the man stands up again (as I'm sure anyone would do when grabbed by the arm) to be yelled at by the officer to once again sit down. That confuses me. Also you can clearly see the officer the guy was questioning displaying no number.

I won't go into any detail about opinions etc as it's a sensitive case but let's be fair, that video doesn't lie and is very clear.

Shame they call it the Richo though.

That guy has got a 3year ban.

Yeah, spotted that in the Telegraph. Was stunned when I saw it.

Would love to know where that footage has come from by the way. Those appear to be the pitch-side camera's which would mean it's either a broadcasters recording (BBC, Sky etc) or one of the two teams personal footage. Would be interesting to find out who released that footage.

Didnt the paper say it was caught by the Sky cameras? (although there was a cameraman within the camera shot who may have Sky)

Yeah the game was live on Sky Sports and I do remember something being said about they caught all the crowd trouble but didn't broadcast it. Would be very interesting if the footage has been leaked out from Sky though. Of course there would have BBC camera's there too though for the FL show, plus each team shows highlights on their sites so there are multiple sources for where the footage could have come from.

There are usually one set of cameras which are used for highlight shows, FLS, Skyblues player, whatever.
When sky show the game live they bring extra cameras for extensive views of the game.

The video will be vanished of youtube, in a couple of days by police, or bbc/sky someone needs to youtube convert it.

I must admit the Sky cameras seem the most likely source.

Agreed about it probably being wiped soon too. I'm almost certain that there's no way that footage should be open for people to see. Again finding the source of the leak would be incredibly interesting.

Not so much poor policing as a pissed up fan thinking he has to give it the biggun because a copper hasnt got his numbers on.
Whats it vgot to do with him ?
I thought he was there to watch football

As for the black bloke who felt the need to come down and knock the coppers hat off I hope he gets a knock on his door after they watch this.
Any other stand and this wouldn't of happened. Just a bunch of idiots who would rather have knock than watch the game and no doubt been in trouble with the police previously and saw it as an excuse to have a go.
As if the club hasnt got enough problems without idiots like this following the club

Fuck off. He has every right to ask why he hasn't got his number on. That's not a criminal offence and not something he can be arrested for. The police were obviously just a bunch of jumped up cunts who got sore when somebody questioned their authority. Maybe the fans shouldn't have gone piling in but to be honest I couldn't give a less of a shit and i'm glad that some fellow fans were standing up for him. No doubt if it was your family involved you'd have been involved so maybe you shouldn't make such ignorant sweeping generalisations on people's brushes with the law. I'd much rather people like you didn't attend football.

Your going a tad to far, yes maybe one or two people went over the top with it knocking the hat off and so on, but a majority of the fans on the video are trying to split up or try and clear police of the fans.
Of course there would have been many there who had been drinking, why i believe it is poor policing because its more than certain to kick off after the depression around the fans.

Also to say it wouldn't kick off anywhere else in the ground, what about in the CET stand where trouble was about during the game with stewards and fans.

The guy defended himself, a mistake, personally i think a half decent brief would have torn the officer to shreds, thats was the blokes decision and he's ended with a 3 year ban. That's the weapon the authorities will keep using too which is why we all have to be careful how we go about demonstrating inside the ground.

Looks like the police went OTT then the fans just went nuts the guy who punched the copper in the back was way out of line and the guy who knocked the hat off was a knob too

as opposed to the non-biased views on here blaming the police for everything.

like most events a mix of things in which nobody really covers themselves in glory

Yes but there was no need for the police to go that far other than it touched a raw nerve

No number means predetermined veiw that he was having trouble that day, just be thankfull he didn,t pick on you

It says the fan received a black eye in custody as well,it's not force policy to not wear badge numbers....3 year ban ?

Causing trouble inside a football ground nowadays is a mugs game, the cctv cameras in the ground can count the pimples on your chin, that black guy who knocked the copper's helmet off and the one who punched the copper in the back might aswell give themselves up, the old bill will be knocking their door at 5am one Sunday morning and dragging them in and keep them there until Monday morning and then ban them

I was there with my nipper. The bloke who was arrested was going on for a good couple of minutes before this footage started. It was clear he was remonstrating about one copper not displaying his number. Maybe he had a point. I don't know if he was wearing as I couldn't hear him. Two coppers spent a while talking to him and the body language of one certainly suggested to me that he was trying to keep the situation calm. The bloke for whatever reason carried on and it was after some time that he was grabbed as the footage shows. What happened next was that he resisted being taken out/arrested and a few around him tried to stop this happening. Again fair enough, perhaps. Then a sort of growl went up and a number of blokes started shouting 'let's do the f***ers', climbed over seats and went to get involved with the police. My lad was terrified and doesn't want to go to the football any more. You can't just get yourself involved when the police are nicking someone outside Jumpin Jacks on Saturday night and if you do you'll get nicked as well if there's enough of them so why did these blokes do it? It made an ugly situation that's put a 10 year old off supporting his team.

Coventry fans as always covering themselves in glory, shame because they missed 50% of our wins this season by not watching the game

I’m sorry to hear about your son. Not nice to hear but this situation was down to the police. It is a police offence not to have their name and number showing. Mark questioned the policeman and he reacts in an unprofessional manner. He didn’t resist arrest and the heavy handed treatment upset many fans including myself.

Mark done nothing wrong here and he should appeal to this.

Are you for real? That was West Midlands police at their finest. Making a situation 100%then it should.

First of all, Mark wasn’t pissed. Secondly, the police HAVE to show name and numbers at all times.

If you watch the video Mark done nothing wrong at all apart from pointing out why hasn’t the copper got the number showing and the piss poor excuse from the copper about not showing his name and number is just laughable.

If you want to live in a police state where there go by there own rules then more fool you.
