Just WOW! Here we go again... Maybe SISU will be really nice and let us sign a goalkeeper with the wages -_-
We need 2 more players in each position and maybe an extra striker.

He knows his onions aswell. Remember hearing a interview and I was impressed with his understanding of the game.

Will make a decent manager one day.

Top player are you having a joke, he is an honest player who has experience. Probably found his level at a below average league 2 side, might even be able to break the 5 goal per season barrier at Northampton.

The fact that someone Thorn was very keen to retain has signed for one of the worst teams in League 2 speaks total volumes about the resources available to the club from a footballing and financial perspective. We were using this guy week in week out in the season just gone-how bad things must be for us to have to rely on such players.

Isn't that who Boothroyd is managing... Says it all. Clearly he either prefers him over Thorn or its a mess behind the scenes.

So thats now 5 out, 0 in . Interesting....

I can only assume that SISU have gambled all the money they have spare (or the money they refuse to pay in rent ;)) on us getting relegated. The odds will be great this year, especially now, and it makes more sense to me than any other strategy I can see: they certainly have more chance of getting their money back this way!

well, with Platts wages off the books we will now be only losing £490k a month !

Its coming down !

So another player out the door and at present we are not in a position to replace him,if the accounts do not get submitted and we still have a club by next season will we actually have any players ???

i actually think we will miss him massively..you may say he is league 2 standard but that is still a higher standard than a league 1 youth team..which is exactly what we will be playing next year.i knew as soon as aidy went to northants last season that platt would go there and he will end up having a great season for them ,also means they can now sell akinfenwa

He has got some unfair criticism. Not his fault he was playing in a League he wasn't cut out for in the Championship but when he did play he gave 100% which can't be said for some of the dross still here.

He leaves with my good wishes and at 34 if you are offered a 2 year deal that is 2 years job security which is not to snubbed at when you are at that age. He isn't a big earner and never has been. Just went for the security option.

Good luck Clive and thanks for your efforts.

I just dont understand the clubs stance ! we cannot sign anyone to strengthen the squad so surely you would do your best not to lose any more of the squad thus leaving us with no experience to help the kids and a very small pool of players indeed !!!

This is becoming embarrassing... Platt could have done a job in league 1. Opting for Northampton Shows theres plenty of uncertainty behind the scenes.

Equally, a talented young fullback confirming his intentions to stay with us for two more years should be seen in positive light.

I think a bigger worry is that Thorn was very keen to retain Platt. I know he's a good hold up player, but you need your strikers to score goals. Platt proved over a long career that he wasn't a goalscorer.

I'm glad we didn't offer Platt a 2 year contract.
I would have liked him to stay here next season and am surprised he isn't going to be, but giving a 34 year old a two year contract just wouldn't have made sense.

Good luck Plattini always give his best, fair play to him he has a family to think of and I'm sure he isn't "minted" like some of our other knobs we have got rid of (Eastwood) after knocking around the lower leagues for most of his career.
The reality is that he played most of last season with a back injury and was done over by Championship centre backs when he played, so next term could see him being out injured alot more after getting a mauling by the neanderthals in the third division.
It has been said before on here that we will be short on bodies so we need people who will take the stick and get on with it.
Maybe our short arse strike force - McSheffery, Cody, Rod may be nippy enough to give the big lads the run around...thats if they don't clear out aswell?

I personally believe that the signing of Plattini heralded an all time low in my time supporting the club. A journeyman clogger with the goals to games ratio of a defender in the twilight of his career....the fact he became an almost automatic choice last season showed how far this club has fallen under shitsu. His snub heralds a new low in our history as far as I'm concerned-1 year,2 years 10 years, whatever...a player like him was very lucky to wear the shirt of CCFC and the fact he's chosen to ply his trade at Northampton shows the shambles we've become. I wish him well though as he never gave less than his all for the club

It's all over because one goal in five and 34 year old Clive Platt has left the building.:facepalm:

What a shame top player.

Dont blame him 2 years or 1 year with a club that may fold in the next year. Also we probably said to him here is the contract offer but it is on the provision that we get a budget so put your life on hold and turn down other opportunities whilst you wait.

Only positive I think he would have been only able to play 1 in 3 or the last 20 or 30 mins of matches so not as bad as if cody goes.

He has to be replaced though. I make 9 replacements we need now.

4 loaness and 5 free transfers

Sorry this is nonsense. He was not a top player as shown by the fact we were the biggest club he ever played for and that a lower level division 2 team (managed by the guy who signed him here) are where he has gone.

A very poor finisher and not someone who used his physical presence at all well. I'm not anti him just realistic. Trying to big him up as a kiss like king was is just silly, of he was the main striker next season we would have been in trouble ,

and there goes the big target man. now we will be looking for a target man. league 1 was exactly right for him, big mistake

He's played most of his career at that level and has a poor goals to game ratio,

Boothroyd's first signing of the summer and we shouldn't be too surprised. When he left Colchester for Coventry, Boothroyd took Platt with him.

He's a tall target man and Boothroyd clearly rates him as a player.

His goalscoring isn't prolific and age is against him but he's an intelligent footballer and dropping down two levels should make him a force in League Two.
