So we need a striker that has averaged about 6 goals a season that isn't fit enough to play more than 1 game a week because of his age? Should we have him instead of McGoldrick?
Callum Ball is fat, enough said
Based on what exactly? Yes he's a big stocky guy, but isn't that a good thing for a centre forward?
We all know Platt's limitations. But the fact is we are hoofing it anyway, and when we do, it comes straight back. At least with Platt it stuck for a while as he held it up. And although rarely a goal threat, he usually changed the game for the better when he came on as sub-he invariably had a positive impact. Ball has only done that once so far.
Exactly. Platt's strength was holding the ball up and bringing others into play - and he did the job well.
We shouldn't be lumping the ball foward aimlessly without a target man. Had Platt been on the pitch this would have been more effective without a doubt.

I didn't know we had 2 Platt's last season - I just remember Clive the one who very rarely scored, created assists and for a big man was hopeless at holding the ball up.
Glad we havn't got Platt anymore if i'm honest.
We can't carry a striker that doesn't score enough goals.
Hopeless as holding the ball up? Seriously?
Yes, watching him get outmuscled at Bristol by two defenders half a foot shorter than him was a particular highlight.
you mean when he, like a few of his teammates, played with an injury to make up numbers?

Well I'm convinced he'd have been a useful asset at this level. I was actually hoping he'd be up top with McDonald this season.
Oddly yes - you seem in a minority of one.
Well none of the managers in League One agreed with you and instead he opted for Northampton where he's yet to manage a league goal.
In a minority of one in a thread starting 'Clive Platt: I think this season we are really really missing him'...
:claping hands:

Well he's a target man so that's not really so significant is it? I like that you've ignored his goal against Wolves though.
I could be wrong here so I apologise in advance if I am, but didn't Boothryd say when he signed Platt, that there were other clubs higher than them that were interested in signing Platt.

I'm late to the thread, but seriously? Platt was very good at that.
