Closing the Back Rows, Opening Block 14 (8 Viewers)

Just been told by the Block 15/16 representative facebook page that the club are looking into reopening block 14 and closing the back rows of the stadium.
By doing this the club are looking at making the ground more look more 'full'. This will push fans in close together.

The Block 15/16 supporters representative page is looking for people to give their thoughts and ideas to what should be done to improve the atmosphere at the Ricoh.

Seen a match yesterday on the league cup round up and there was netting across the first half dozen or so rows. Did make the gate look bigger, makes sense.

It does make sense, but I sit 2 rows from the back and I love the view. I think many prefer sitting at the back?

Great idea. Hate that entire empty section. Looks poor.

What would also look better imo, is putting the away fans directly behind the goal, Blocks 9 & 10, not packed away in the corner, this would also look better for the tv cameras, rather then a big bank of empty seating!I love looking at the 'S K Y..... B L U E' seats... not!
:thinking about:

just a thought!

I sit in Row SS. That's about 6 rows from the back and I'm happy there. It's my ST seat.

Also sit on the end of a row and am just about in line with the halfway line, so get probably the best view in the whole stadium. How on earth are they going to move me and give me a comparable seat?

Think there will be a fair few pee'd off people if they do this.

Me being one of them.

i personally think its a bad idea, pretty sure if you have a season ticket for a certain seat then they remove it that would be breach of contract.....and by pushing fans together you are going to uspet the people that come to city for peace and quiet:whistle: by sitting them next to people who like to shout and sing..i honestly dont think it will make a difference to the atmosphere..those that sing always sing ,, those that moan always moan,,those that tut and tell your son to sit down and be quiet want shooting ..but we still all support city...so let us sit where we want ..i quite like the fact i can always get an end seat so i can stick my dodgy knee out

There's a lot of old fellas around me and they invariably sit on the ends of rows for an early escape on 85 mins. I sit on the end because I am invariably in a rush and need to get out quickly at the end of games.

Move all these people and they are going to mightily pee'd off when they find they can't get equivalent seats lower down. And as has been said, some people want the peace and quiet. Been the same people in these same seats since we moved to the arena so I don't see how you can now suddenly move them.

Terrible idea in my opinion. You could do it for blocks 14 / 15 maybe but that will be about it.

Better to push people back than forward that way the noise reverberates off the roof and they can stay dry.

Better sense logistically but not so pleasing on the eye aesthetically as it will look worse for the cameras and emptier than if it were at at the back.

It isn't breach of contract. The contract is for a seat within a defined area in the ground. The club reserves the right to move season ticket holders I believe.

I got told it was the level of the police box blocked off. Other moves also asked were to more the Jsb Stand behind the goal.
Season tickets will be moved on a free also.

Why is it unfair to move you but ok to do it for blocks 14 / 15?? Dont get that one? :thinking about:

But Otis how many times will we be on TV at home? Once a season we are always talking about no short term ism push people back not forwards who gives a toss what it looks like on TV? We want a better atmosphere at the ground don't we??

Because you go in blocks 14 and 15 to make some noise and not for a bit of peace and quiet and to be in a more congested area and not in a place with a bit more space and don't mind excessive swearing and usually many people who go to blocks 14 and 15 don't really care so much where they sit as long as they're in blocks 14 or 15 and are much more likely to be standing for the game rather than be sitting down ?

Pretty obvious I would have thought.

And the club may well be able to move people but people are going to be mighty pissed off and the group who usually get the most pissed off are the oldies who like their routine, are set in the ways and get the grumpiest the quickest!

Wow, what a generalisation. I am a season ticket holder in block 15 and am just as entitled as you to keep my end of a row seat. I'm fed up of block 15/16 being treated like second rate citizens just because we try and make a bit of atmosphere.

They can't do anything now until next season. You can sell someone a specific view and then move them away.

Not at all, Harvey.

Think you are missing the point.

The reason people go into Block 20 is pretty much the opposite reason to those going in Block 15.

Go and have a look in Block 20. Loads of OAP's. They want their peace and quiet. You telling me you want peace and quiet in Block 15?

Look in Block 20 and look at the seats at the end of rows. loads of OAP's, in their seats at 2:15 and been in those same seats for years on end.

This is a great idea for improving the atmosphere but will, unfortunately, be ruined by some selfish babies.

If they want peace and quiet they should F*ck off. It isn't a library. W*nkers.

Good idea but too many grumpy gits like Otis for it to happen

maybe it would be a good idea for next season so everyone is aware before they buy their tickets

Yeah, all these people who have been supporting the City for 50 years or more should fook right off.

Football was invented as a professional game nearly 150 years ago.

There have always been quiet areas of every ground in every division since day one.

Some people go to sing and cheer some go to watch the game in peace.

Fook me some people scare me at times on here.

Lets groundshare with Nuneaton, that will solve the problem and the rent will be cheaper :thinking about:

I agree with Otis, and if they were to close some back rows it wouldn't make hardly any difference to the noise in 20.

It's a good idea, just too late to inpliment this season.

Anything the club do to improve the match day experience for all has to be a good thing.

As they say it takes all sorts and being disrespectful about the older folk on the half way line is arrogant and frankly ridiculous, they've been going for a hell of a lot longer than those most in block 15 (myself included) and deserve more respect

God forbid the day City are back in the prem, and not an empty seat in the Ricoh, Tesco stand will be apoplectic; excessive noise, congestion, no spare seats around them!

As has been said, they club can move supporters, just like when we got moved out of the telent, block 10 (ish) circa 2007.

I would never criticise another fan for not wanting to sing or support the team verbally. All cov fans are equal, whichever way they support the team, which is why I took objection to your comment about it being a crime to move fans in block 20 but it would be fine to disturb ST holders in 15/16.

Objection?

Please tell me where I said it would be 'fine' to move those in Blocks 14/15? Truth is I didn't. It would obviously not be fine to do so.

I said 'maybe' the club could. Just offered it up as a suggestion and just a suggestion, knowing that some people in those blocks huddle together anyway and have been known to move seats to get closer together when there are spaces and some are just happy being in Blocks 14/15 and not so fussed where exactly they sit, unlike other areas of the ground where people do want the same seat week in week out.

No use getting on a high horse about something I didn't say and I wasn't in any way shape or form being disrespectful about those who wish to congregate there. I was merely saying that, that was probably the only place the club could close rows off to create a better atmosphere without upsetting people as much as if they did it elsewhere.

Personally I wouldn't want to see any fans moved at all. The suggestion to move fans was not mine in the first place.

And I know it wasn't you, but for anyone to call fans who have been going up for 50 years or more 'wankers' because they wouldn't wish to move, well that is very much something every decent fan of this club should take objection to.
